BellaBox - September 2012

I'm so happy to have received my BellaBox before I leave! To celebrate the coming of Spring, this month's theme is "Spring in Your Step". There were a total of 6 items in my box this month. These are the things that I received.

1. Bioderma Sebium Foaming Gel - 10ml (RRP: $24.95 for 200ml)
This product claims to "cleanse and purify. Regulate sebum quality." I am semi-excited about this... mostly because it's such a pretty blue colour. I am unsure if I will be able to come to a solid conclusion with the sample size... Will give it ago later today when I wake up (if I remember).

2. Bioderma Sebium AKN Purifying Corrective Care - 5ml (RRP: $24.95 for 30ml)
A moisturizer which smooths and purifies the skin whilst helping to eliminate blemishes and blackheads. I am running out of my Christian Dior Diorsnow White Reveal UV Shield spf 50+, so this came at a great time. I've been quite lucky, as I don't get many blemishes or blackheads. So I won't be able to test that bit out. But if this is any good (or horribly bad), expect a review!

3. You, Me & Everybody Sumptuous Skin Mousse - full size (RRP: $13.99 for 75ml)
You, Me & Everybody claims that this is a "Fragrance-free, non-greasy mousse". I wholeheartedly agree. I just used this product about 10 minutes ago, and it feels very moisturizing indeed! A little goes a long way, just like shaving foam. The only con about this product is that I like my moisturizers to be fragranced... and this one is fragrance-free...

4. Savoir Faire Concealer Sample Kit - Concealer 0.8g; Finishing Powder 0.2g (RRP: $35)
I love love love love getting cosmetics in my monthly beauty subscription boxes. I really like that this sample kit comes in a few shades so that you find out which shade is best for you. There are 4 concealer shades (top four) and 2 finishing powder shades (bottom two). The BellaBox info card also suggests that the darker shades can be used as contouring and sculpting and the lighter shades can be used for highlighting, which I think is a great idea! I also love that finishing powder is included to set the creamy concealer. I'm so excited to use this one!

5. USPA Beehold - 30ml (RRP: $32 for 150ml)
According to the Bellabox info card, this product is meant to "create body in fine hair, curl retention in wavy hair and provide thermal protection plus humidity resistance". I'm going to be honest and say that I threw the "USPA Wheatgrass Solar Energy Leave-in Serum" that I received in my August Bellabox in my luggage when I had to make the emergency family trip to Singapore a few weeks ago but then took it out and replaced it with "Tigi Rockaholic - Rock out shine blaster" from my August Lust Have It... big mistake! The Tigi Rockaholic leaked... Thank goodness I put it in a zip lock bag before throwing it into my "shower" bag. Unfortunately I have yet to use the Leave-in serum, but I will be taking both the leave-in serum and this style beehold with me on holidays in a few days.

6. Benefit It's Potent Eye Cream - 3g (RRP: $32 for 14g)
This is another product that I loooove in my Bellabox. I absolutely LOVE benefit, and although I don't use eye creams, as I don't have noticeable eye bags (yet...), I am still excited to give this a go!

7. A $15 voucher for TheIconic.com.au

Overall, I do like this month's box. It's definitely not as impressive as the two previous ones but it's passable thanks to the Savoir Faire concealer and the benefit eye cream. I can't wait to see what I received in October (as usual) when I get back from holidays!

What did you get in your Bellabox? Which is your favourite product?

Giveaway 2 updated details and other things...

I'd like to thank all of you who have participated in my second giveaway. I can't believe I have reached the 200 followers milestone already! I'm still in denial despite what GFC says.

Anyway, I have been contemplating extending my giveaway for about a week now, and I have finally decided to do so. The giveaway will now end on the 14th of October at whatever time Rafflecopter says (I can't set the time).

The reason why I am extending it is because I will be going away on the 18th of September for 5 weeks, and I may or may not have access to the internet (more on this later) Therefore, I don't really want to leave it for too long without announcing the giveaway winner. Besides, the longer I extend it, the more entries you can earn (through tweeting, giving me klouts and sharing on facebook), and the better the chance of you winning!

As mentioned above, I may not have access to the internet, so I might be missing in action for a while. I will be going to Singapore and Europe (Paris, Berlin, Florence, London, Scotland, Venice, and Milan) for about five weeks. If you have any tips or places that you recommend going to or avoiding (shopping and food wise, attractions etc), please let me know in the comments below! Or if you know why the hell water taxi fares are so expensive in Venice....

Anyway, it's 8.56am here and it's just about my bedtime now. I'm still working nights and trying to get as much studying done in between (which isn't much time at all, and may explain why there haven't been many blog posts). I hope you have an amazing day/night and good luck in winning my second giveaway! Enter here if you haven't already or would like to earn more entries!

Semi regretting getting so many piercings in my ears... or purchasing so much useless crap. I could've put a deposit down for an apartment by now!

TAG - My Makeup History

I was tagged specifically by Candice from youreview to do this post on my makeup history. Thank you Candice!

I think the title of this post "My Makeup History" is quite self-explanatory, so I shall begin!

Answer the following questions and take a picture (or two) that relates to your answers. (My top picture shows white eyeliner, an answer to one of my questions).

1. How long have you been wearing makeup?
Since high school... so I would say about 6 years. Although during my high school days, it was just a bit of eyeliner and concealer.

2. What was your favourite makeup product in the beginning?
I absolutely loved my eyeliners!

3. What is your favourite makeup product now?
This one is a toughie! I love my foundations because they give me the even skintone I desperately want. I also love my contour powder because it gives an instant and painless nose job and cheek implants. I love my mascaras because they make my lashes look longer and fuller. Then there's blushes and brow gel... In other words, I love them all equally and I don't have a favourite (or you can look at it as they are ALL my favourite).

4. What were some of your favourite brands in the beginning?
Maybelline made some amazing eyeliners back in the day (they still do, but I now associate Maybelline to amazing mascaras).

5. What are some of your favourite brands now?
As time has passed, my taste for makeup has headed to the direction of higher end/designer brands. Some of my higher-end favourite brands include Lancome, YSL, MAC, Urban Decay, and Benefit. I do love drug-store-ish brands such as Maybelline, Essence, Revlon and L'oreal.

6. How would you describe your makeup 'style'?
Definitely natural... I get lazy with eyeshadow (also, I am a bit of a eyeshadow noob) and I still forget to put some lip colour on (especially when my lips look quite pigmented already). So the end result of my makeup routine is natural.

7. What is your everyday makeup like?

Foundation or bb cream with powder dusted over the top (to set the foundation, which is normally liquid and to make it a more matte finish), black eyeliner on lash line and white on water line, about 3 coats of mascara (I've got short and pretty sparse lashes, I need all the mascara I can get!), a bit of blush to add some colour to my cheeks, contoured nose (cheeks as well if I can be bothered... usually not), and a lip colour (when I remember).

8. What is your 'going out' makeup like?
Normally the as everyday makeup... If it's a special occasion, I may add eyeshadow.

9. What makeup look are you known for?
I guess my version of a "natural" look, as described in Q7.

10. What is the worst beauty crime you have committed?
I think this is the 3rd or 4th time I've mentioned this on my blog... Keeping my mascaras for ages because I can't bear to throw them out when they've still got product in them and aren't clumpy! Same goes for liquid eyeliners...

11. What is the worst beauty crime you are proud to have not committed?
Sleeping with makeup on.

12. What is a trend you were part of but now aren't a fan of?
I don't think I have one :-s

13. What is one trend you are proud to say you were never part of?
I don't know if this was a trend but those stupid lip tattoos of flags and other images... WHY?!?!?!

14. What is one look you will never ever go for?
Two looks that come to mind - geisha look and oompa loompa look. Although I don't think most people would intentionally go for these looks... except geishas.

15. If you were brave enough to wear any look, what would you go for?
Bright red lips... But I'm pretty sure they don't suit me.

16. An old HG product of yours?
Lancome artliner in Noir! Amazing eyeliner that doesn't smudge or fade!

17. A current HG product of yours?
Revlon kissable balm stains (especially in Honey)

I tag specifically:
Chelsea from super purdy
Fleur from pour le femmes
Jasmine from my cup of tequila
Made Up Maiden
Sue from voyage dans le temps

P.S. I'm sorry for this extremely wordy post.

August Empties

Another month gone, another few more products used up! Yay! I am actually enjoying the feeling of finally finishing up products because that means I get to crack open new ones!

The products that I've used up in the month of August are:

Top-Bottom: Maybelline One by One (Blackest Black - WP); Lancome Hypnose Precious Cells
1. Lancome Hypnose Precious Cells Mascara
I love this mascara, and I can't seem to part with it. If you read my July Empties, you will know that I have a problem with mascaras... I don't like throwing them away until they're used up or so clumpy, that they're impossible to use anymore. This mascara is still good despite about a month of religious usage everyday, and that's why this may be a bit of a 'cheat' because it's still living in my mascara drawer. It's too expensive pretty to part with! I swear I'll throw it out by next week October...

2. Maybelline One by One in Blackest Black (Waterproof)
This is also a mascara that I love, it holds my curls relatively well and it doesn't smudge thanks to its awesome waterproofness. I bought this from the states late last year, but I can't remember when I started using it... Pretty sure it was a few months down the track. Anyway, it's quite clumpy now and so this is definitely going in the bin. It's much easier to part with considering how cheap I got it for!

3. DiorSkin Nude in shade 031
This is another August empties that I love. This foundation (once set with powder) lasts all day on my skin, and it gives amazing coverage too (which I love, as I get lazy with concealer). It also smells amazing! The two cons that I can think of is that while the bottle looks quite nice, the cap can get quite dirty (maybe it's just the way I handle my products), as you can see in the second picture. The other con is the price. It's quite steep compared to a drugstore product. I think I paid about AUD$50 for this on strawberrynet.

4. MAC Prep+Prime Skin Base Visage
This is a primer that I am quite 'meh' about. Unfortunately I left the empty bottle at my bf's, so I had to steal a pic from nordstrom. This works well, but then again I've been quite lucky with primers and found that all work well for me. So I don't think this is worth the price, considering I can get other cheaper ones to do the same job. The one thing I really don't like about this primer is that once you apply it on your face, your hands get quite glittery (although if pretending to be a vampire is your thing, then maybe you'll like this effect). Thankfully the glittery-ness is not really obvious on the face, and once foundation is placed on top, you can't see any glitter.

That's all the products I've used up this month. What are your empties?
