BellaBox - January 2013

Before I reveal what I received this month in my BellaBox, I just wanted to say that this is my 100th blog post!!! Yayy!!!

Anyway, back to BellaBox. This month's theme is celebrating Australian brands (I'm guessing this all ties in with Australia Day on 26th Jan), and so all the products included in the box are Australian brands.

I received three full sized items in this month's box, which is quite impressive. I just wished there were more makeup in this box. I think BellaBox and Lust Have It should have the option to purchase boxes that purely contains makeup!

1. You, Me & Everybody Cool It Aloe Vera Gel - full size (RRP: $8.95 for 100ml)
I think this is a great product to include in a summer bellabox, considering how hot it got today (44 degrees celsius here in Sydney)! However, since I'm working 9-5 Monday to Friday, and in the mornings on Saturday, I don't have much time to get burnt. So I will be saving this for when I head to the Maldives in May (SO excited for this!).

2. Face Of Australia Makeup Purifying Cleansing Wipes - full size (RRP: $4.95 for 25 pack)
I also received this in my Lust Have It November 2012 box but haven't gotten around to using them yet, as I've been trying to get rid of my older cleansing wipes. You can't have too many cleansing wipes anyway!

3. Swisse Body Wash with Vitamin B3 and Macrobiotic Sea Minerals -30ml (RRP: $14.95 for 250ml)
Having graduated from university with a degree in MICRObiology, I thought it was interesting that they included the word "MACRObiotic" in the name of this product. It's a fancy terminology for seaweed! Anyway, I'm not sure if I will like this, as it smells a whole lot like lemongrass. I don't quite like smelling like lemongrass...

4. Mode Nail Polish Hot Stuff - full size (RRP: $2.45 for 15ml)
I admit that I'm a bit of a snob when it comes to nail polish. I tend to go for the big brand names like OPI, China Glaze, Butter London and Essie. So I'm glad to have received this in my bellabox as I don't tend to buy polishes by brands like Mode Cosmetics. I think this hot pink shade is perfect for summer!

5. Natio Pure Mineral Skin Perfecting BB Cream SPF 15 - 5g (RRP: $14.95 for 50g)
Since I've been stuck indoors, and haven't been able to catch me some skin cancer, I'm quite pale and would have preferred fair instead of medium. I have tried this BB cream on this morning and was initially quite impressed that the medium didn't look all too dark on my face until I went outside and saw that it was a tat too orange on me. I'm not sure if it oxidised or if my room was too dark.

As you can see in that swatch that once blended and left for about 5 minutes, it's not a perfect match for me (my face is a bit paler than the back of my hand). Coverage wise, I'd rate it a low to medium. It didn't quite cover my acne scars, but it evened out my skintone. I personally do not think this BB cream is for me, and I would not be purchasing the full sized version.

Overall, this month's BellaBox was a bit "meh" for me. But I do appreciate the Australian theme.

What did you get in your BellaBox? Were you impressed?

  1. I got the same box as you, but with orange nail polish instead of pink. I would have preferred pink, but I guess I already have enough pinks. I wish I could have tried the BB cream, but medium will definitely be too dark for me! This box was pretty disappointing.
Also, that's cool to hear you've got a degree in micro! I did 3 units of it in my med science degree and they were my favourite subjects of my whole degree.

  2. Happy 100th post!
I'm still yet to be impressed with any of the Australian monthly subscription services :/ Australia should have it's own ipsy/my glam bag, seeing as they are mainly makeup!

  3. Congrats on 100 posts. :) This BellaBox seems a bit disappointing... It should be filled with mid to high-end products! The $2.45 nail polish rubs me the wrong way. >__< On a more positive note, I do love those FOA face wipes :) xx

  7. I've only just signed up for Bellabox and it looks like this one might be a bit of a "blah" moment for me after reading all of the reviews! However there are some products available that look quite good. Can't wait to get mine so I can see what there is and do my own review!
