Before giving myself a glittery manicure, I love looking through my nail collection for a similar non-glittery colour as a base coat because I don't like putting too many coats of glitter polish on for easy-removal reasons.
These are the polishes I used for my NOTD...
From left to right, Butter London - Nail Foundation Flawless Basecoat, Orly - Gilded Coral, All That Glitters - Book Smart Beauty, and Essie - 3-way glaze.
This is what it looks like with a coat of All That Glitters Book Smart Beauty on top of Orly Gilded Coral. I think they are a good match for each other. Although, you could do without the base layer of Orly because Book Smart Beauty is not a sheer glitter polish.
I included this blurry photo because it shows how much golden shimmer there are in both polishes.
I got a bit too excited with taking photos because I didn't wait long enough for my nails to dry, and ended up smudging the index and pinky fingers. In this photo, the pinky only has a coat of Book Smart Beauty over the top of a coat of the flawless basecoat. The pink was "nude" - just had my regular gelish manicure.
Another photo to show the glitters in Book Smart Beauty.
As you can see, a coat of Book Smart Beauty is surprisingly opaque! It's perfect for me because I hate piling on too many coats of glitter polishes, as it makes removal a chore.
Last photo, I promise! I had trouble trying to catch the true beauty of this manicure, so I had to include a gazillion photos to show you how pretty this NOTD is!
P.S. I needed about 3 coats of Essie 3-way glaze to get rid of the gritty feeling of a glitter polish.
Oh my goodness! It's perfect, I love it love it love it! Thank you so much for doing this post! Both Book Smart Beauty and Gilded Coral look gorgeous. Ahhhh! :)

Me too! I usually change my polish every few days, and I still have it on after 3 days despite getting more nail mail! :D
Deletethe colors are too pale, but the glitter completes the look
ReplyDeleteI didn't think the colour was too pale :-s Maybe if my skin was a bit more tanned, it'd really show? :-s
DeleteIs that only one coat of the glitter polish? That's awesome! I think I'm definitely going to have to check these polishes out. Great, like I need ANOTHER reason to spend money.
ReplyDeleteThanks for the Nail of the Day, Abigail!
Yes it is! Amazing isn't it?! I did redo my nails with two coats though because I wanted more glitter.

DeleteWhat a beautiful combination! I love the accent pinky nail :)
ReplyDeleteThanks Sandy :) The pinky nail is what I normally have on my nails because my nails break quite easily, so I have gelish on them 99% of the time to give a bit more strength :)
