Review: Shu Uemura Skin Purifier Whitefficient Clear Brightening Gentle Cleansing Oil

I recently bought the Shu Uemura Skin Purifier Whitefficient Clear Brightening Gentle Cleansing Oil from sasa.com. I have used it a handful of times since I received it in the mail last week. I usually like to use a product for a few weeks before I do a review, but I have already developed a strong enough opinion on this cleansing oil to do a review.

As mentioned above, I bought this cleanser from sasa.com and paid USD$25.90 for a 150ml worth of product.

This is the claim that can be found on the Shu Uemura website...
"for dull skin complexion, removing melanin-filled dead cells is the first step in brightening care. fortified with the Ultimate Removal System, our latest development, the lightly textured formula effectively removes accumulated melanin and heavy make-up.

empowered with our advanced brightening technology this brightening cleansing oil contains an innovative combination of Mito-White Complex and Vitamin C to help prevent the accumulation of melanin deep within. day-after-day, the skin looks clarified and brightened with an even-toned complexion."

Having used this cleansing oil a handful of times, I cannot really say anything about the brightening properties of this cleansing oil. I have not noticed any difference in the "brightness" of my skin tone. However, I did not buy this for its brightening properties, but rather its makeup removing properties.

The instructions say to take 3-4 pumps of product onto dry hands (I only use 1 to 1.5 pumps), and gently smooth over dry face. Wet face to emulsify the oil, and then rinse thoroughly with water.
That's about a pump's worth of cleansing oil
I find that one pump of cleansing oil is enough for me, and I wear a full face of makeup everyday - foundation, concealer, blush, powder foundation, eyeliner and mascara. It removed the majority of my makeup, which was very impressive. The only problem I had with this oil was that I found it hard to remove my layers of mascara. Quite a bit of rubbing was needed to get it all off, and that resulted in my contact lenses becoming blurry. But the accumulation of cleansing oil (which I'm guessing is the cause of my blurry vision), was easily washed off with some contact lens solution. As a result, I use eye makeup remover or a facial cleansing wipe to remove my eye makeup instead of this cleansing oil.

Swisspers Facial Cleansing Wipe after using Shu Uemura Whitefficient Cleansing Oil
The beige stains on the cleansing wipe above were from the foundation on my neck. I do not like washing my neck (unless I'm in the shower), because I hate it when my top gets wet. But as you can see, the cleansing oil did a marvelous job in removing my makeup.

After using both the cleansing oil and facial cleansing wipe, my skin feels so clean! I highly recommend this cleansing oil if you are in the market for a good makeup removing oil.

In terms of packaging, I love the pump bottle for two main reasons. Firstly, it is a pump bottle and so it dispenses enough product without having to fiddle around with a cap and pouring (disasters tend to happen when I have to pour things...). Secondly, you can turn the pump head to "Close" so you can throw it in your travel cosmetics bag and not worry about any spillage!

The last thing I want to include in this review is the scent. There is a slight perfumey scent, that I cannot for the life of me describe. It's sort of a floral scent, and is quite pleasant. I personally don't notice it when it's on my face, as I'm too busy watching it magically remove all my makeup.

Would I repurchase? Yes! Although, I'd probably try out the other cleansing oils by Shu Uemura, as I'm not too concerned about brightening my skin tone. I've got my eye on the fresh pore clarifying gentle cleansing oil!

Have you tried a cleansing oil before? What are your thoughts?

    1. The oil is colorless but has a strong fragrance. I don't like the fragrance coz it smells too much like a perfume.but i like The pump and it removes make-up really good.
