Review: Urban Decay De Slick and All Nighter MakeUp Setting Sprays

A few people asked for a review of the Urban Decay De Slick MakeUp Setting Spray in one of my "What the postman brought me" posts (read here). So I thought the best way to review this along with the All Nighter makeup setting spray, and then deciding which I like better.

Urban Decay De Slick
Claims:
"De-Slick is your ally against oil and shine! Mist before makeup, and again after your beauty ritual to set your look for 16 shine-free hours. High-tech ingredients in our weightless mist cool the makeup's surface, control oil and help skin look beautifully matte all day."

Thoughts & Experience:
I used this when I was working a 12 hour shift in a semi-hot environment. I came home with an oily T-zone. Having said that, my makeup did stay nice and matte when I used it in Tasmania, where it was quite dry. So I don't think this product is a miracle de-slicker. One other thing I did not like was having to spray it prior to makeup application because I kept forgetting to do so until half-way through applying my foundation.

The only point in the claim which I found true was that the mist was weightless. As a result, I would not be repurchasing (not that I need to with this ginormous XL bottle).

Urban Decay All Nighter
Claims:
"Our groundbreaking formula mists on, ensuring makeup that won't budge for 16 hours. Color dispersing technology keeps makeup even so it always looks just-applied. Weightless but powerful, All-Nighter resists moisture and even has a techy cooling ingredient that makes skin look and feel fresh all night long!"

Thoughts & Experience:
I don't know if the "color dispersing technology" really works because my makeup tends to stay put thanks to pressed powder. But comparing my experiences with the De Slick, I never really noticed an oily T-zone when I came home from work after using the All Nighter. I may have had a slightly oily T-zone, but nothing that made me really notice it. So All Nighter wins in this department.

All-nighter is also weightless, and my skin feels as fresh as it would feel after a 12 hour shift at work. I guess that the majority of the claims on the All Nighter spray bottle is true for me. I would repurchase this, as I find that it does help to set my makeup (or maybe it's just psychological...).

Have you tried any of these sprays? What are your thoughts?

    1. I use them after I do my makeup to make it look.... more natural? Sometimes I can look a bit cakey or powdery (even though I apply my makeup really lightly) so I spray some setting spray and it makes it look better :)

    2. Now that you've mentioned it, setting spray does make the powderyness go away! I tend to quickly spray my face when I'm done applying makeup and then run to get breakfast and out the door I go... Now it makes it more justifiable to purchase setting sprays! Thanks Jen!
