February & March Empties

I've been so slack in blogging because the internet is still not set up yet. It's so bloody frustrating, as I can't shop properly (lol jk... maybe?), and I have already used up half of my mobile data allowance about a week into the start of a "new" month (not sure how that happened...). Fingers crossed that it'll be done on the 11th of April, as TPG is meant to be coming over to set it up.

Anyway, since I was so slack with blogging the past month, which I also blame on the big move, I have two months worth of "empties" to blog about.

So here we go, in no particular order...

1. Gatsby Powdered Oil Clear Paper
My T-zone gets quite oily and shiny about half way through the day, and these oil blotter papers are amazing at soaking up the oil, leaving my skin feeling fresh and not-so-yucky. These have to be the best oil blotters I've tried, and I have tried a fair few! I bought this in Singapore, and I will definitely be stocking up when I go back next month.

2. Dove Triple Moisturizing Body Wash (1L)
As much as I love Dove, I was actually quite excited (and by quite, I mean too excited) when I finished this, as I forgot to take a picture before throwing it in the bin. I was really looking forward to using one of my Lush or Bath & Body Works shower gels, and it took FOREVER to finish this body wash. It's extremely good value for money (I think I bought it for about $10), and smells really good. Can't really praise it's moisturizing properties, as I still had pretty bad winter itches when I used it in winter. Not sure if I'd repurchase, as I've got far too many Lush and B&BW shower gels to use up.

3. Aussie Moist 3 minute miracle deeeeep treatment
I LOVE this conditioner. It made my hair feel so soft and really detangled my dry, messed up locks. I was so sad when I finished using this bottle, but was really glad I had back ups. Except instead of putting a new bottle of the 3 minute miracle conditioner in my bathroom, I decided to use up all my other inferior conditioners. Can't wait to put a new bottle of this in my bathroom!

4. Wotnot Facial Wipes
I liked these wotnot facial wipes, as they were moist and removed my makeup efficiently. I really hate it when facial wipes are dry or get dried up towards the end. I'm happy to report that these facial wipes passed the test. Will most likely repurchase when I finish using up all my facial wipes.

5. Estee Lauder Idealist Even Skintone Illuminator
I got a sample of this from Myer, and I'm thankful that I did not fall in love with this, as it's mighty expensive! I didn't notice any improvements in my skintone. I did however notice how sparkly/glittery my hands got after slathering this on my face at night.... Will not be repurchasing!

6. Johnson's face care daily essentials refreshing gel wash
I did a review of this here, so I won't repeat my thoughts again. I will most likely not repurchase this, as it does not go too well with my clarisonic (beads get stuck in the bristles).

7. Head & Shoulders Smooth & Silky
This wasn't completely empty when I threw it out. It was probably about 90-95% empty when I threw it out. It just wasn't working for me anymore, as my scalp was ironically itchy and did not keep my dandruff at bay. I need some recommendations for dandruff please!

8. Bioeffect EGF Serum
I got a sample of this from adorebeauty.com.au a while ago, and had forgotten about it before finding it and pinky-promising myself to finish it up.

If you don't know what Bioeffect EGF Serum is, here is a quick description that I took from  adorebeauty.com.au

"BIOEFFECT EGF SERUM utilises the proven anti-ageing power of EGF to restore your skin’s youthful radiance, minimise signs of ageing and rejuvenate the skin’s complexion.

• Restores skin’s natural radiance
• Reduces the appearance of sun damage, fine lines and wrinkles
• Diminishes dry spots
• Improves and rejuvenates skin tone and texture
• Significantly reduces pore size
• Deeply moisturising and easily absorbed
• Hypoallergenic, paraben-free formula"

While I don't have signs of ageing (i.e. wrinkles and fine lines), I do have large pores, and slightly uneven skin tone. I did not find any noticeable change in my pore size or skin tone. I do agree that it is easily absorbed, but not to sure about its moisturizing properties, as my skin is already quite oily (and naturally 'moisturized'). At $180 per 15ml (talk about liquid gold...), I definitely will not be repurchasing.

9. No7 Beautifully Matte Make Up Base

I purchased this when I was in the UK last year, and found that although it made my skin feel "dry" (in a good way), it didn't last all day. My skin did feel oily and looked shiny about half way through the day, and needed a good blot. I probably would not repurchase even if No7 was available in Australia.

10. Lancome Artliner in Noir

I did a review on this here, and I never thought I'd actually use one up. I'm not sure if it just dried up, I used it up or a combination of both, but I was surprised when I went to my bf's, reached for this and found that it was empty! I'm not sure if I'll repurchase, as I've found a new HG eyeliner - Sleek Dip-It! It's cheaper than the Artliner and it does the same job - creates a beautiful deep black line that lasts all day.

11. Biore Cleansing Oil Cotton Facial Sheets
These wipes are AMAZING. I actually prefer these wipes to the Wotnot ones above. They're really moist and remove the majority of my eye makeup (all 5 coats of mascara + smudgeproof eyeliner) in 5 seconds. All I have to do is lightly press the wipe on my closed eyes, hold for 5 seconds, and gently wipe off and 99% of it comes off! It also doesn't leave any greasy or oily residue on my skin, that makes me want to wash my face straight after. Amazeballs! I love that it's refillable and that you can store it in a pink case knowing that it will not go dry because it doesn't have that annoying sticky cover that becomes unsticky with use. I purchased this from Singapore and will be stocking up when I go back, although it is quite expensive for makeup removing wipes.

12. Maybelline Colossal Volum Express Mascara in Black
This is the second time Maybelline Colossal Volum Express Mascara has appeared in an empties post (read the first time here). I mentioned before in that first post, that it is a great volumizing mascara, and it still is. I'm only throwing this out because I think it's been in my drawer for too long and it's time to move on. Will most likely repurchase when I run out of mascaras (which won't be anytime soon).

13. L'Oreal Volume Million Lashes Waterproof in Black
I didn't find this mascara as volumizing as the Colossal one. However, it does not clump, which is fantastic. I probably won't repurchase this mascara, as the Colossal one is better at volumising and it also does not clump.

14. Dior Diorshow Maximizer Lash Plumping Serum
My brother bought this eyelash primer for me (per my request when he asked what I wanted for Christmas), and I absolutely loved it! I'm so sad that I've run out of it, as it's far better than the lash primer that I'm currently using (UD Eyelash Primer Potion). It's not thick like the UD, and it lengthens my short, stubby lashes. It's a bit expensive to repurchase at the moment, but I will one day!

15. Maybelline One by One Volum' Express in Blackest Black
Another great mascara by Maybelline! This did an amazing job in volumizing my lashes as well. I actually can't decide which is better - Colossal or One by One. I love them both equally and will repurchase when I run out of macaras.

That's it for my empties! Have you finished any products that you loved (or hated)?

  1. Omg so many mascaras! I can hardly go through one in two months!!! Oh and those blotting sheets sound amazing. Too bad they're from Singapore! :(

    1. I've had those mascaras open for ages! I still have more to throw out lol

I can pick some up for you next month, if you like?

  2. I read somewhere that Head and Shoulders loses its effectiveness after a while because your scalp 'gets used to it'. Moogoo has some great anti-dandruff haircare products, they're really gentle on the skin and made from natural ingredients. Plus they're Australian owned! It might help to alternate between anti-dandruff products.

    1. Thank you for the recommendation! I've picked a bottle up and have used it yesterday. So far, so good! No itching!!

  3. I second trying something like Moogoo for dandruff. I've switched to using sulphate free shampoos and I don't get an itchy scalp anymore.

    1. Thanks for the recommendation, Sophie! I have been looking at ingredients in my shower, and my shampoos and conditioners have sulphate in them! No wonder! Now to figure out what to do with them...

  4. I've always wanted to try the Aussie 3 min miracle line but how lame is it that it's not sold in Australia. I Love Mascara's & I go through so many of them as well :)

    1. My bf got the Aussie 3 min miracle from amazon for me ;)

  5. The Biore wipes look so cool! As for dandruff you should try Lush's 'Soak and Float' solid shampoo. The smell isn't that great when dry but it works wonders in removing dandruff.

    1. Thanks for the recommendation, Louise! I will check the Lush shampoo out. :)

  6. Dove Triple Moisturizing Body Wash is amazing! And wow at all the mascaras you emptied!!

    1. They are exactly "empty". I'm throwing them out because theyve been opened for far too long.

  7. Wow you got through a lot this month! I only finished up one lonely moisturizer :(

    1. If it's any consolation, all those products were over two months? Moisturizers take me forever to empty!

  8. Thats heaps!! My fave wipes are wotnot wipes. So gentle yet so effective n very hydrating. Im terrible at finishing products :(

    1. I'm actually quite good at finishing them, only because I refuse to open new ones until the old ones are finished. As a result, I have drawers full of new, unopened makeup lol
