Lust Have It - April 2013

So I finally received my Lust Have It box yesterday, which is a tat later than usual, as I normally am the first ones to get it. This is also my last LHI box, unless I renew my yearly subscription. I have about 3 more days to get it at the old price of $160. Still can't decide whether or not I should, so let me know what you think I should do in the comments!!!

Unfortunately, LHI did not include an info card in my box, and after reading comments on their facebook page, it looks like everyone who received the same box as me didn't get a card either. >:( As a result, I have no idea what each item is worth and a limited idea of what they do (based from the description on the back of each product).

1. Paula's Choice Skin Balancing Carbon Mask - full size (AUD$39.95 for 118ml)
... absorbs excess oil and purifies the skin using a unique blend of clay and carbon (charcoal). This silky, light, glycerin-rich formula contains anti-inflammatory agents to cool skin. Easy-to-rinse formula leaves your skin feeling incredibly soft and perfectly balanced.
I'm frankly slightly disgusted. Since I have had no info card, I had to research the price of this. I found that in America it's USD$15.95 (here). I cannot understand why we're being charged over 100% more for the same product. Paula's Choice has lost a brownie point already!

2. Pink Tiger Nail File (AUD$1)
There are no information about this nail file anywhere, but if it's the same one on the pink tiger site, then it's a 220 grit on the front and 150 on the back. I haven't found a good "drugstore" nail file that lasts longer than 2 uses, so I buy my files from a professional nail shop for about $1.50 each. Looking forward to seeing if these are professional ones or cheapy-crap ones!

3. Gosh Mono Eye Shadow in 006 Black - full size (RRP: $16 for 1.7g)
I like black eyeshadows because they're perfect for setting black gel eyeliners! I'm not a big eyeshadow person anyway, so this colour is great for me!

4. Molton Brown Patchouli & Saffron Body Wash - 30ml (RRP: $39 for 300ml)
This smells amaaazing! It's got a really strong floralish smell. I've only smelt a couple of Molten Brown stuff from my brother's stash, and it's definitely got a typical Molten Brownish smell. Definitely looking forward to trying this out!

5. Aveda Shampooing Exfoliant and Thickening Conditioner - 10ml each (RRP: $49.95 for 200ml)
I feel like I'm balding, as I've been losing so much hair. I've asked my hairdresser about it and apparently I'm not shedding excessively, but I'm still worried. So I'm happy to give this a go, although I hope it doesn't irritate my scalp too much, as I do have an annoyingly itchy scalp too! I also hope I hate this product as this is so ridiculously expensive!

6. Rachel K CC Cream samples - (RRP: $39 for 50ml)
ARGH! The dreaded sachets! But I have heard of Rachel K and have been quite curious about this brand. So I guess I can overlook the packaging of these samples...

That's all I received in my Lust Have It box. I thought this box was reasonable. It's not the best box LHI have produced but it's not the worst. With all that in mind, do you think I should renew my subscription?

    1. I'm so indecisive, making this situation a whole lot worse!!

  2. Do they still offer VIP boxes for annual subscribers since I seem to have received a different box from you. If you don't decide to resubscribe soon and do it later, that would cost you an extra $60!

And I just realised the CC cream also says blemish balm, which isn't what a CC cream is... They have gotten it wrong.

    1. I have no idea... They're whole VIP program is a bit of a gimmick I think. The only thing worth something is the pair of earrings I got a few months ago.

At the back of the packet, it says "CC cream is a much more refined and improved BB cream which combines various benefits all in one - Color control, isolation, whitening, brightening, moisturizing and UV protection with SPF 35 PA++..."

Looks like they know the difference between CC and BB cream, although I'm not entirely sure what they mean by "isolation".

  3. There seems to have been a lot of different boxes this month, some were much better than others, mine wasn't one of them. I will continue to purchase by the month until I have to start paying $19.95 but if the boxes don't improve I won't continue.

    1. The box I got and the box you got aren't all that different. I got the sample sized Aveda and 4 tiny sachets of Rachel K CC cream, whilst you got the Goldwell shampoo, Pink Tiger gauze and John Plunkett cleanser. At least you don't have any nasty sachets to deal with!

    2. Your box has a better value than mine, I would rather of tried the mask instead of more shampoo and cheap face wash.

I would have loved to try the CC cream even the nasty sachets lol...

Love to know what you think of the Aveda when you try it. The mask looks good too.

The gauze is really good for cleaning your nails I tried it today.

  4. I think this box is okay, but I think you shouldn't renew!
The only reason I would renew my subscription is if they constantly sent out boxes that I liked and were of good value. From my perspective, it doesn't seem to be consistent so that's why I wouldn't re-subscribe :)

But it's completely up to you of course!

    1. So true Sheri! Thank you for your input! I'm leaning towards not subscribing.

  5. If I got your boxes I would re subscribe, but my boxes have okay things in it but nothing I go oh I want to try that. I don't even get why they do different products for different people (maybe I picked the wrong skin type?). For the resubscription price it is a bargain but I don't need the clutter and I need to cut back on stuff so no more lust have it for me.

    1. I cheated a bit.. I changed my year of birth to 3-4 years later, as I've noticed that the slightly older ladies have been getting better boxes than me. But I have noticed the increase in clutter and accumulation of sample products! Another reason why I'm hesitating on re-subscribing.

  6. I'm jealous that you got to try that molton brown body wash!...also the CC creams ( even though they are annoying sachets ;P)...and that carbon face mask. HAHA I always get box envy, even when my box is not that bad :P

  7. I haven't even bothered to do my April post yet as I'm feeling very 'meh' about my box. My first as an annual sub - having previously paid monthly - and I'm just not feeling the love :) lol
I got the eyeshadow (black) the molten brown, pink tiger gauze and cheapy file, goldwell shampoo (would have liked the conditioner too!) and a cleanser/makeup remover. At least there was no crappy little annoying sachets hahah...
At least having an annual sub, if you've got the spare cash, once it's paid for you don't have to think about it for another whole 12 months, I think the one annual sub will do it for me though...

  8. I think you received a great box! There's a huge disparity in US and AU prices. On my holiday to Hong Kong, bobbi brown products were significantly cheaper. Few companies mentioned it's due to freight cost.... hmm who knows.
