What the postman brought me

So apparently, there's a fault with the internet wire thing from the Main Distribution Frame (MDF - the box thingy where Telstra or other telecommunication companies connect their wires to the apartment complex) to my apartment. Therefore, we don't have internet access until they fix it! So frustrating!

Anyway, this is a VERY long overdue "what the postman brought me" post. I'm contemplating dividing this post into two parts because it might be quite long. Will see how we go. Starting of with nail polishes (I'm a NP addict if you don't know that already)...

1. Femme Fatale Cosmetics
I actually made two orders - one when Rainbow Honey was launched on Femme Fatale, and the second time was when Femme Fatale had a 15% easter discount special... I could not resist :P
L-R: Be Mine; Sakura Matsuri; Hanami; XOXO
Sakura Matsuri, XOXO and Hanami had been on my nail polish lust list ever since I found out about them a few months ago. I was so excited when I found out that Femme Fatale was going to stock them, and even more excited when I managed to check out with those polishes. I also added Be Mine and Femme Fatale Scorchling (picture below) to my cart because I'm a sucker for pink/red polishes!

L-R: Edge of the Cosmos; Twilight Meteorite; Scorchling; A Tisket, A Tasket
In the second order, I picked up Edge of the Cosmos and Twilight Meteorite because I saw a photo on Femme Fatale's facebook fan page where someone had done a mani with edge of the cosmos layered over twilight meteorite. Favourite thing about Edge of the Cosmos (even though I've not used it yet) is the silver stars and larger circle glitters! I'm such a sucker for those kind of glitters! I also picked up A Tisket, A Tasket just because...

Furthermore, I also added two eyeshadow samples in my second order - Icemist Diamond and Sun Crystal, both from the Gemstone Collection. I've been lining my waterline with a white eyeliner, and wanted to see how these eyeshadows will look on there. They were $1.10 each before the 15% discount.

Femme Fatale generously included two complimentary mini 5ml nail polishes in my parcel - Incendius and Noble Garden.

2. Ozsale
L-R: Fairy Dust; White Cap; Oxygen; Go Go Pink ;Pink Plumeria
I purchased these China Glaze polishes from OzSale. They were $7 each. Have used Go Go Pink (with Lush Lacquer's Clowning Around - more details below) in a NOTD that I've posted on Instagram a few days ago. I think I will be uploading photos of my NOTDs on instagram instead of dedicating a whole blog post on one or two nail polishes (unless someone requests a blog post for a particular NOTD or polish), so follow me on instagram if you haven't already! My username is @abbz0id.

3. Lush Lacquer
L-R: Neon Lights, Peace Luv Polish; I Love My Marbles; Clowning Around

I purchased 7 mini polishes from Lush Lacquer when they had a 10% discount for USD$29.92 + $9.75 shipping. I really like purchasing minis because I get to try out more polishes for the about the same price, and I've never completely emptied a nail polish bottle anyway.

As mentioned above, I've used Clowning Around over China Glaze Go Go Girl and I absolutely love this combo! It's still on my nails 3 days later... SHOCKING! I change the colours on my nails like I change undies lol Another thing I love about Clowning Around is that you don't really need to "fish" for the bigger glitters, like you may in other polishes. The neon glitters are really thin as well, so I didn't need 127926381 layers of top coat to make my nails feel smooth.

I've also used I lost my marbles on my toes and it's gorgeous!

L-R: Chubby Bubby; Lovey Dovey; Blue Gypsy
I currently have Blue Gypsy on my toes, and it's such a gorgeous sky blue colour. Unfortunately, I did have to fish for the black star glitters and some of the bigger glitter bits.

4. Harlow & Co.
L-R: Pastel Pink; Utopia; Nude Beige
L-R: Northern Lights; Southern Lights; Wicked Polish Frost Bite
I absolutely love Harlow & Co because they offer free shipping (even internationally) if your order is CAD$50 or more. I ended up getting 5 bottles of Models Own ($8 each) and a bottle of Wicked Polish Frost bite for $11.

I've also uploaded a picture of a glitter gradient mani with Southern Lights and Utopia on Instagram. It's my first attempt at it and I'm really pleased at how gorgeous it turned out. If you'd like a tutorial on how to achieve this, let me know in the comments below!

I have to say though that I'm not completely happy with the two Models Own nail polishes that I used. Both were a tat too gloopy for my liking, and I had to add about 3 drops of nail thinner to solve the problem. I think I added a few more for Southern Lights.

5. eBay
L-R: Gelish Take Action; ibd Brush-On Gel Resin
My thumb nail keeps splitting, and although my gelish usually holds it together till it grows out, I thought I might experiment with silk wrapped nails. Hence the purchase made for the Brush-On Gel Resin to glue the silk wrap to my nails. To take advantage of combined shipping, I also purchased the Gelish Take Action. This gel polish had been on my wishlist for the longest time.

As soon as I received Take Action, I obviously HAD to remove my old gelish manicure and do a mani with it...
Swatch of Gelish Take Action
And then add a coat of Waterfield on top, as no mani is ever complete without some bling...

Going back to silk wrapping nails, I had to purchase my silk wraps from a different ebay seller because the one that I got the glue and gelish from didn't have the silk wraps that I wanted.
I decided on the Supernail swiss silk wraps after reading a few tutorials, where they were using this exact brand. I've used it once and my gelish didn't sit too well on top of the silk wrap, so I'll probably save it for when I take a short break from gel polishes.

Furless Princess
I won this polish! Please excuse the handle, as I realised it wasn't closed properly until after I took the picture. I thought it was shut pretty tight prior to the photo taking, but apparently not... Anyway, I've used it once and was really impressed at how opaque one coat of this polish really is. It's so opaque and applied so smoothly, that you could just apply a coat of polish if you were in a rush. It also dried really quickly. I'm not sure how long it lasts before chipping, as I mentioned above that I change my polish like I change my undies.

I think this post is getting a tat too long, so I'm going to stop (rather abruptly) here, and blog about the rest of what the postman brought me in the next post.
