Violet Box - June 2013

I've just received the first ever Violet Box today. If you've been living under a rock (or outside of Australia), Violet Box is a new monthly beauty box subscription service. It costs $22.95 a month, $66 for a 3 month subscription, $130 for a 6 month subscription, and $250 for a 12 month subscription. I bought a 3 month subscription for $50 when they had a special for mother's day, which I thought was reasonable.

The products were wrapped up in purple tissue, packaged in a really sleek and sturdy matte black box, which reminds me a lot like Her Fashion Box.

There were six products from the three main categories - skincare, makeup and haircare.

1. John Plunkett Essentials Glyco Peel Night-time Exfoliator - full size (RRP: $28.95 for 15ml)
A night-time exfoliator containing 25% Glycolic Acid suitable for all skin types, which gently removes old, dull surface skin cells to reveal clear, younger and refreshed skin.

An interesting product that I'm looking forward to using!

2. Lash Control ClearCoat Mascara and Brow-Fix (RRP: $25 for 8.87ml)
This is such a unique product because of the squeezey sleeve thing. This is apparently meant to control the amount of formula that comes out on the brush, depending on how hard you squeeze. It does sound a tat gimmicky, but I'm still so excited to try this out. I would have preferred if this was a black one, but I guess it'll be handy as a topcoat for my lashes or a brow gel.

3. CK One Eyecolor in 400 Vivid (RRP: $25)
Can someone please tell me what Violet Box means by "Gloss eyecolor by CK One Color Cosmetics are soft sheen transparent color gloss pencils hat are infinitely blendable, multitasking spontaneous color."? How can a pencil have a transparent but yet spontaneous color ... that is blue?

Anyway, I'm not entirely sure what I'm going to do with such a bright blue eye pencil, but I'm sure I can figure something out.

4. Avene Gentle Gel Cleanser - 50ml (RRP: $23.95 for 200ml)
A make-up removing cleanser suited for normal to combination sensitive skin. Now, although I don't have sensitive skin, I do have normal-combination skin. So I guess the sensitive part won't hurt. I haven't tried this before, so I'm happy to have received it, as Avene products are quite impressive.

5. Argania Hair Oil Light - 5ml (RRP: $34.99 for 100ml)
I'm so happy to have received this, as I'm running out of my Moroccan oil. This argan oil smells a bit more vanilla-y than argan though (not that I'm complaining...).

6. Calvin Klein Sheer Beauty EDT - 1.2ml (RRP: $80 for 50ml; $120 for 100ml)
I've received a sample of this perfume before, and I love it. It definitely came in handy when I went traveling last month, so I'm happy to have received another.

That's all that I've received in my first ever Violet Box. I'm happy with the contents of this box, and I'm really looking forward to what Violet Box has got installed for next month.

What did you get in your Violet Box?

  1. So far this is the only variation of VB I have seen so it looks like everyone is getting the same box.

I haven't received mine yet and I can't say I am too impressed. The promised great things and I don't think they delivered.

    1. Although it isn't the best box I've ever seen, but I think it's a LOT better than LHI!

  3. It's nice.. but not enough to make me want to sign up with them :P I think the people who got the white eye pencil were really lucky! It would be easy to use as a inner eye brightener.

  5. Mm from what I've seen so far I think it's a good box with nice full size products, but I probably wouldn't use most of the products... and because I signed up as an annual member for LHI *cries*

  6. I was way more impressed with this than the other boxes this month, especially LHI which I thought was terrible .I will be keeping a close eye out next month as I dont think I want 3 boxes and if LHI doesnt dramatically improve and follow up on their promises they might be the first to go :S

  8. Impressed with my box.....but I think I might get rid of my lhi subscription. You end up with too many cleansers if you subscribe to more then one.
