IMATS Sydney 2013

I went to IMATS on Saturday and it was such an experience to say the least. I bought way too much (more details on the haul further down), and even surprised myself with the amount of patience I had, waiting in massive queues.

IMATS haul
I was given a press pass to IMATS, for which I'm truly grateful, and I even met up with the gorgeous Jasmine from Sweetaholic Beauty!

Check out my press pass!
Although I got in at around 8.30am, there were massive crowds forming around the MAC Pro and Inglot stalls. So I went to Hakuhodo and went brush shopping. I had previously written a brush wishlist on my iPad, so I just showed the shop assistant my iPad, and he went around finding the brushes on my list.

Beautiful display of brushes at Hakuhodo
I had about 8 brushes on my list, but had to narrow it down to 4, as they were so expensive. Having said that, they're extremely soft and dense, so I can see why they are priced the way they are.

Hakuhodo: J5529 ($16); BJ142 ($18); J5529 ($35); BJ214 ($44)
These four brushes ended up costing me a total of $113.00!  The most expensive brushes I own to date.

I then decided to brave the crowds at Inglot, as I really wanted an Inglot palette and could not resist after seeing the beautiful display of blushes and eyeshadows....
Inglot
and nail polishes....
Inglot
To order, everyone was given an order sheet, where you ticked what kind of palette you wanted, and wrote down the shade number of what eyeshadows/blushes you would like. You then handed the form in, with your name on it. The sales assistants then ran around to collect your order and then the wait begins, as your little bag of goodness lines up for the registers. I swear I was waiting for a good 30 minutes before my name was called. I was quite surprised at how much patience I had waiting, as although it sounded like it was quite organise at Inglot, it wasn't... at least at the checkouts. There were a handful of times when one or two of the checkout ladies took bags from the end of the queue, which annoyed me. Other than that, the service at Inglot was pretty good, considering I managed to add a nail polish after my order was complete - one of the sales assistant painstakingly went through the bags to find out which was mine to put the nail polish in (although she was quite lucky and found it after a few goes).

Inglot nail polish, eyeshadow 402, eyeshadow 311, eyeshadow 431, eyeshadow rainbow in 118, eyeshadow in 123

I purchased the Inglot Nail Enamel in 166 ($11), Freedom Palette [5] ($10), Eyeshadow in 402 ($7), Eyeshadow in 311 ($7), Eyeshadow in 431 ($7), Eyeshadow rainbow in 118 ($9), and Eyeshadow in 123 ($9). This purchase totaled $60.

I then went to the Ben Nye/Scotty's Makeup & Beauty store to get the Ben Nye Banana Powder for $12. The queue wasn't as crazy as Inglot, but there was no order whatsoever, and I was standing there for quite a while trying to get the attention of one of the sales assistants. I also scored a sample of Ben Nye's F/X Creme Color in Dark Crimson!

I wondered off to find some Make Up For Ever, as my sister wanted the HD Concealer after hearing me rave about it. The queue there was similar to Ben Nye's, but I don't think I was waiting as long. I picked up the concealer for my sister, and the Super Matte Loose Powder for $27 (retails for USD$28 on Sephora)!

I then stumbled across a stall called "The Make-Up Foundation", and was really impressed with how they have managed the crowd. Everyone had to line up to pay (or order what they wanted).

I picked up a bottle of Brush Cleaner & Conditioner Spray ($7.75) and a pack of 25 disposable mascara wands ($2.20). I also picked up a few clear makeup bags, one of which will be appearing in a giveaway soon.

I HAD to take a picture of the crazy Lime Crime booth...

It was this crazy at the MAC Pro booth when I arrived at IMATS! But when I was about to leave IMATS, they have managed to turn the crazy mass of people into an extremely long, orderly line. So kudos to MAC!

However, I couldn't leave without picking up MORE brushes...
I picked up 5 brushes from the Bdellium Tools store - face 990 ($15), eyes 776 ($7), eyes 942 ($10), eyes 766 ($6), and eyes 778 ($8). You may notice that I have bought a crap load of eye brushes, as I'm hoping these will give me the inspiration and motivation to learn the art of eyeshadow application.

The service at Bdellium Tools was pretty good. I didn't have to wait long at all. However, I feel a bit ripped off, as some of the brushes I purchased are (slightly) cheaper on iherb.com (Use code CEW675 to get $10.00 off your first iHerb purchase).

By this time, my arm was aching from carrying a bag full of amazing purchases, so I thought it was time to go before my arm falls off. I walked past the Mac Pro booth (again), and saw this amazing body/makeup art that was still in progress...
I wish I had that person's makeup skills... I'd even be happy with just a smidgeon of her talent!

And just at the entrance (on the outside) of IMATS...

 I want a batman costume now... :-/

  1. IMATS is such an amazing experience! It looks like you had an amazing time. Your Inglot palette is so pretty - the eyeshadow colours you've picked are so lovely and they all compliment each other (which what I would have done also), haha.

    1. Thanks Lisa! I purchased the colours with "blushes" in mind. And I was like oh crap! This is meant to be an eyeshadow palette, so I picked the brown shade, which should be a great shade for almost every occasion.

    1. I'm surprised I only purchased ONE nail polish from Inglot. I think I deserve a basket full of polishes for displaying such control. :P

    1. Thanks Samantha. I just used the J5529 today to apply blush, and whilst it felt so luxurious on my skin, it takes some getting used to, as I'm so used to a bigger angled blush brush. Will do a review sometime in the near future :)

  13. You bought so many goodies! I love your photo of the Lime Crime stand. Unfortunately when I was trying to get to the stall it was about double the size and I had to wait about 45mins to get to the front! It was worth it though!

And I'm so disappointed I didn't bump into you there!
