My experience with mbeautylounge

I thought I'd share my experience with mbeautylounge with you, as I have a spare minute or two and wanted to do this post before I left for the states. mbeautylounge is notorious on the web for being quite dodgy. There are quite a few blog reviews out there about mbeautylounge and unfortunately, most are bad reviews.

I did my research prior to purchasing, and I decided not to go ahead and risk it. However, after they sent me a discount code one day, I forgot all about the bad reviews and made a purchase before remembering the reviews.

I purchased nine Zoya polishes, which are super hard to get in Australia at a reasonable price, as well as the OPI Pink of Hearts 2013 set.

As you can see in the picture above, I only received seven of the nine Zoya polishes, and my OPI Pink of Hearts set. Before I go on about the service of mbeautylounge, I'd like to share my polish haul...

I may have an unhealthy obsession with pink polishes. I picked up Bela, Jessika, Willow, and Elodie.

Along with Lo, Tomoko and Maria Luisa.

Tomoko is a pixie dust, and it's easily one of my favouritest polish that I've picked up in this haul. Tomoko is a champagne silver colour and is textured and matte. If you apply 2-3 coats of top coat, it's the most gorgeous, sparkly polish ever. Best part of it all is it's so easy to remove!

I was attracted to the More than a Glimmer polish in the OPI Pink of Hearts set. Unfortunately, it wasn't what I had in mine and was a tat disappointed in how it looked. It was also difficult to remove, which is expected considering the amount of large glitters in the polish.

Pink-ing of You is a gorgeous pink creme colour. I used two coats and it wasn't too streaky.

The other two polishes that were missing were "Abigail" and "Priscilla" polishes by Zoya. I was going to give the "Priscilla" one to my sister for her birthday, which was late September, and I placed the order on the 3rd of September. Those bastards!

According to the information on their website, my order was shipped out on the 9th of September. Although I was prepared for the "Priscilla" zoya polish to be a few days late for my sister's birthday, I grew concern about six weeks later and still no parcel.

I contacted mbeautylounge on the 19th of October informing them that I have yet to receive the parcel, and this is what they said:
"Thank you for contacting Mbeauty Lounge

hello can you please provide me with the following information so I can properly locate your order
1) Order number
2)Date of purchase
3)Shipping name and address

Thank you"

I provided them with the information as requested as soon as I received their email, and I did not receive a reply to date. I gave them about a week before I contacted my credit card company and reported fraud. My credit card company said that they will investigate this and will take about 4-6 weeks.

Long story short, I got my money back... and my parcel. But here's what is really messed up....
They sent it out on the 14th of November. I received my package about 2 weeks after that date. I assume that the reason for this is because the two polishes that were missing are discontinued and perhaps they were waiting to see if they can obtain those two polishes but the least they could do was tell me what was happening. They also gave me a credit note for the two polishes.... like I would use it and deal with this horrible customer service again.

You have been warned.

  1. You have been having the worst luck with online ordering lately! I've never ordered from them. At least you got your money back, and your parcel! Bonus :) I hate dodgy companies that basically have no idea what's going on and don't tell you anything. On a better note; loving the array of pinks you got! I've never tried Zoya polishes.. hopefully you'll have better online dealings in 2014 :) x

    1. I do have the worst luck! But I'm great at complaining, so tend to get reimbursed! Zoya polishes are fantastic! Highly recommend them, although they're hard to come by in Australia at an affordable price.

  2. Boo.... Why couldn't they have just been straightforward about it? I mean, you would have found out about it sooner or later! Poor you - you're not having a lot of luck with online companies at the moment!

    1. Exactly! If they were honest about the whole thing, I wouldn't have had to write this blog post... although there are plenty of blog posts out there ranting about how crap mbeautylounge is.

  5. Thanks for the review. I won't be shopping with this website now. Who in their right mind takes two months to ship out an order! However I do love Zoya Pixi Dust polishes, they are absolutely gorgeous!

    1. Exactly right Mishelle!

Totally agree about the Zoya pixiedusts! They don't even feel all that gritty and look absolutely gorgeous with a slick of top coat if you're not into the matte, textured look!

  6. The polishes you did get are gorgeous - shame about the terrible service though! No wonder they have a bad rep.

  11. I also got my package from them - after trying to communicate with them, receiving standart answers and eventually reporting fraud to my credit card company. It lasted 10,5 weeks to get it since they mailed that they shipped it to me. But on the package the shipping date was only 10 days ago. I'm happy i finally got it but no way i will be dealing with them again.
