Empties - August 2014

It's official! Spring has sprung! It also helps that the weather is absolutely beautiful today. It's just such a shame that I'm stuck in the office all day. My little cubicle has no windows :( #firstworldproblems.

I've finished a handful of products in August that I thought I'd share and give mini reviews.
My handful (or two) of products I've emptied in August
I tend to use up skincare and haircare products a lot faster than makeup products, which is such a shame as it would give me a much better excuse to purchase more makeup. My current excuse of "being a beauty blogger" is wearing a bit thin. Would love to know what your excuse is!

1. Nizoral 1% Anti-Dandruff Treatment
I wanted to purchase the Nizoral 2% Anti-Dandruff Treatment from Priceline online but they only had this 1% version. I thought I'd give it a go, as it's cheaper than the 2% one at Chemist Warehouse. I found that the Nizoral 1% lathers a lot more easily than the 2%, and it works just as effectively in preventing an itchy scalp, and thus dandruff. I have already repurchased the 2% one when I went to Chemist Warehouse a few weeks ago, but will purchase the 1% one the next time.

2. L'Oreal Eversleek Reparative Smoothing Conditioner
I'm not a fan of this conditioner. I hate the smell of this and found that it did nothing special for my hair. Will not be repurchasing.

3. Bath & Body Works Butterfly Flower shower gel
You can't expect an empties post without a bath & body works (B&BW) shower gel. I love my B&BW shower gels and this is no exception.

4. Vagisil Feminine Wash
Because your female parts need cleaning too.

5. Mario Badescu Special Cucumber Lotion
I didn't really think much of this toner. It's meant to assist in "drying up existing acne blemishes while preventing new eruptions". However, I didn't notice any difference in my skin when using this toner.

6. Neutrogena Rapid Clear 2-in-1 Cleanser/Mask
This was featured in my nighttime cleansing routine (read here), and I'm really sad to have finished it. I will think about repurchasing this once I've used up all my cleansers.

7. Urban Decay De-Slick XL Oil Control Makeup Setting Spray
Unfortunately, this is another fail product for me. It didn't control my oil, as claimed... not even the slightest bit. I still find myself having to blot about 5 hours after I've put my face on.

8. Sally Hansen Strengthening Nail Polish Remover
This is a great nail polish remover. As I have acrylics on to strengthen my natural nails, I'm always weary of nail polish removers that are too harsh, as they can dissolve the acrylics whilst remove the nail polish. I've found that this Sally Hansen one is fantastic at being gentle but effective enough to remove nail polish easily.

9. wotnot Facial Wipes for oily/sensitive skin
wotnot facial wipes are one of my favourite makeup removing wipes. These were featured in my nighttime skincare routine (read here). I would definitely repurchase.

10. wotnot Facial Wipes for combination/sensitive skin (5 wipes)
These are travel sized facial wipes that I have forgotten to include in July's empties post. They're super handy to travel with. Out of the two types of wotnot, I prefer the one for oil/sensitive skin. I don't know why I prefer one over the other as both work amazingly at removing makeup without leaving any disgusting residue. Both also smell pleasant too.

11. La Roche-Posay Redermic (5ml)
I've been alternating between this and my Retin-A treatment (Stieva-A) at night. La Roche-Posay Redermic is less harsher than the prescription Retin-A. However, I would still use a face oil (e.g. rosehip or argan) after to put in a bit of moisture back into the skin to prevent flakiness. I probably wouldn't repurchase, as I'm using a prescribed Retin-A, and it's not too harsh for my skin with the use of an argan oil.

12. Manna Kadar Lash Ware Mascara in Black
It is time to say goodbye to this mascara after religiously using it almost everyday in August. I received this in a Wantable box. It's a pretty good mascara but since it's not readily available in Australia, I will not be going out of my way to repurchase this, as I think Maybelline mascaras work just as well.

13. Benefit Gimme Brow in Medium/Deep
This is my HG brow product. I love using this because I can get away with just using this one product. It's super easy to use as well. I love that there are little fibres in it for sparse brows. Have already repurchased this.

14. SK-II Facial Treatment Essence (30ml)
This has featured in both my nighttime and daytime skincare routines (read here and here respectively). As mentioned in both posts, I don't think this is worth the money as I haven't seen any noticeable changes in my skin since using this.

What have you emptied last month?

  1. Love empties posts! Some lovely products here. I need to repurchase my Gimme Brow too! A HG for myself as well x

  2. I love empties posts and doing them too. They kind of lift my guilt of having shopped in excess.

    1. Yes, doing empties posts do make me feel better especially after doing a massive haul (or two).

  3. Some great set of products. love the background.

  4. Ive realised that I also finish up skincare & haircare a lot more faster than makeup! I love the wotnot wipes as well - I used to not be a fan of wipes but these have converted me
