Review: Kerastase Elixir Ultime

Whilst I'd choose makeup over haircare if I had to pick one, I am quite disappointed in myself for not sharing a haircare product on this blog in what seems like forever. Despite being quiet in the haircare front, I do invest quite heavily on haircare products as I was definitely not "born with it". Well, maybe I was, but I've exposed my once healthy locks of hair to so much chemicals that I'm beginning to think that it will never recover.

In case you've missed my face plastered on the top right hand side of this blog, I have long hair that almost reaches my waist. I also recently have had half a head of foils put in, as I'd love to go blonde one day and hope that my hair does not snap off. As such, I'm taking it easy and getting there gradually. I have dyed my hair countless amounts of time, going from red to purple to dark brown and lately, to blonde. Furthermore, I normally shower at night and hair dry my hair so that I don't get a wet pillow. I also have re-discovered my curling iron. So it's no wonder that my hair can look like a rat's nest when neglected.

I'm going to pat myself on the back for not neglecting my hair and religiously using Kerastase Elixir Ultime. Although, I should thank Kerastase for creating an amazing product because my hair actually feels and looks healthy despite all the torture I've subjected my hair to.

Kerastase Elxir Ultime is "the original indulgent, versatile beautifying oil enhanced with Oléo-Complexe Technology. This weightless formula is enriched with Camellia, Argan, Maize and  Pracaxi oils. Elixir Ultime leaves hair feeling soft, supple and radiant to touch." In other words, it's liquid gold!

There are two ways to use this amazing oil. The first is to apply a pump or two onto towel dried hair. The second is to use this as a pre-shampoo treatment.

Using it on towel dried hair makes my hair feel so soft and manageable. I normally get frizzy hair, especially in the morning after brushing, but since using this, my hair has been amazingly sleek! Although, I must say that a trick I've learnt to twist your hair into a bun whilst you sleep certainly does help keep the frizz at bay in the morning.

I have tried it on dry hair and I love that Kerastase Elixir Ultime does not weigh my hair down at all, and it absorbs relatively quickly, as I do not end up with oily, greasy hands after application. I also love the smell of this stuff!

I was initially quite skeptical upon learning that this can be used as a pre-shampoo treatment, as it's just something I have never believed in. I also thought it'd be a waste, my reasoning was that all the goodness will be washed off when shampooing. I was wrong! My hair normally gets tangled after shampooing, and I have to rely heavily on a good conditioner to undo the damage and inject moisture back into my hair. However, after using Kerastase Elixir Ultime as a pre-shampoo treatment (I leave it on for at least 10 minutes), I was extremely surprised that my hair was not a tangled mess, but felt smooth and just plain awesome!

With silky, smooth locks, I can confidently say that Kerastase Elixir Ultime is an amazing hair product that has done wonders to my hair, and is worth every cent.

Have you tried Kerastase Elixir Ultime? What's your favourite hair oil?
