Wantable - October 2014

It's been a long time since I last purchased a Wantable box. Wantable is a monthly subscription box with four different variants - Makeup. Intimates, Accessories and Fitness. I've only ever purchased the Makeup one, as it appeals to me the most. What sets Wantable apart from other subscription boxes on the market is that they literally handpick products according to your preferences, which is conveyed through a survey that you complete prior to subscribing. You get 4-5 full-sized products in the Makeup subscription box. It costs USD$36.00 plus postage or USD$40.00 for a one-time only purchase. However, I'm not sure why you would pay the extra $4, as you can unsubscribe so easily.

Postage is free to US addresses, and costs $6.00 to Canadian addresses, $7.00 to UK and $10.00 to Australia.

Liberty Republic Spellbound Nail Lacquer in Premonition - RRP: $14.00
"Spellbound Nail Lacquer earned its name from the incredible "SPELLBOUNDING" technology within the formula. These polishes bind to the nail for a gel-like wear that lasts up to 2 weeks! The entire line of Spellbound Nail Lacquer is 5-free, cruelty free, vegan, long wearing, quick-drying, and chip resistant! Our revolutionary formula wears like a gel with the convenience of a polish. Removable with any nail polish remover (acetone or non-acetone), you'll be amazed at how resilient this formula is to chips and skips."

Although I love nail polishes, I'm a bit disappointed to have received this shade. It's such a dark shade that may be perfect for winter months, but not so much in the upcoming Summer season. It is an extremely dark teal shade that almost looks black. It's not a shade that I would sport, but maybe it might come in handy when doing nail art. It's such a shame that the shade is not for me, as the formula is amazing. Dry time was super fast, and had no problems with streaks. I used two coats on my ring finger (with a top coat).

L-R: Headliner, Center Stage, Archtype, Femme Fatale
Eddie Funkhouser Hyperreal Eye Color Palette Ultimate Smokey Eye - RRP $14.99
"Take the guesswork out of your color application with four expertly hand selected shades. This palette can create a range of looks from natural to glamorous and classic to avant-garde.
Beauty Tip: Use the darkest shade to line your eyes, smudging the line for a smoky look. Use the bottom right shade as an all-over lid color with the bottom left shade in the crease for definition. Use the lightest shade above the crease and in the inner corners of your eyes for a brightening effect."

I really had to build the lightest shade (Headliner) up when swatched, as you could barely see it on my skin. The other three shades were pigmented. I used them today, and they applied like a dream.

Three Custom Color Lip Liner in Coral - RRP: $16.50
"These lip liner pencils are designed to glide effortlessly over the lips to allow for flawless application, easy blending and long wear. This range was created to softly define the lips and create a barrier which extends the wear of lipsticks and lip glosses. For the most precise finish, outline lips before applying lip color. If your line is less than perfect, touch up the edges with a cream concealer."

I rarely use lip liner, but this is a pretty wearable shade. It did take a while for colour to show on my skin when swatched, but after a while of scribbling a love heart on my arm, the colour was sensational and it was pigmented without tugging on the skin.

Tarina Tarantino Dollskin Blush Palette - RRP: $45.00
"The silky powder blush, imparts skin with a natural glow with true color payoff that wears all day long! This formula has micronized powders (also known as "HD" or "High Definition") which blend over skin evenly and easily! These 4 beautiful shades are housed in an incredibly luxe gunmetal casing with an iconic Tarina design detailing!
Beauty Tip: This gorgeous blush palette is perfect for travel! You have all options a girl could hope for in on convenient case."

This palette made up for the nail lacquer that I received. Love all four blush shades in this palette! I tried the top left shade and it was a bit light on my cheeks. I added a little bit of the top right one on top, and BAM! Perfection!

L-R: Three Custom Color Specialists Lip Liner in Coral; Tarina Tarantino - Feather; Parasol; Carved Rose; Candy Cameo
Overall, I'm happy with what I received this month. However, I will probably wait a few more months before I re-subscribe to Wantable again, as it is quite an expensive subscription box. If you would like to subscribe, I'd appreciate if you could click through my link here, as I get a $10 credit towards my next box. Thanks in advance! :)

EDIT: I don't want to sound like a big ol' whinger, but I really don't know what to make of this card that was added to my box:

I guess my main issue is that this card specifically says "... you're the first to own ALL SIX bewitching shades..." at the end of the first paragraph. The message I'm taking home from this is that I'm supposed to be receiving six shades, and have only received one. Am I interpreting this wrong? :-s

  1. The main problem I had with Wantable was finding brands in my box that I received in Ipsy. It devalued the items for me when they showed up in full sizes in boxes that were much less expensive. (The Tina Tarantino products are featured in the Boxycharm boxes for example, and I've received full size Mica Beauty, Be A Bombshell and Manna Kadar in Ipsy) It's difficult for me to justify paying $36 for four items when I receive 5 often full size items for $10 or $21 in other subscriptions. I know their customization aspect is a draw, but I haven't found it works well for me, although they do have wonderful customer service and are very helpful when things show up that are obviously not my style. I've only received single eyshadows from them, actually I've never received a palette of any kind in a Wantable box, so the fact that you have two different ones is encouraging, I might have to try it again at some point.
