Memebox - Holika Holika

I've been trying to kerb my spending on memeboxes, as I'm planning on doing a huge US haul again shortly. However, I couldn't say no when I found out about Holika Holika and Tony Moly (review to come shortly) memeboxes. Both Holika Holika and Tony Moly are Korean brands which I am familiar with. I do not own many products from either brands, so I thought purchasing these memeboxes would be a great way to try products from each brands. It's all in the name of beauty!
I purchased both boxes as a value set, and as a result received a free upgrade to express shipping. I paid USD$66.99 for both boxes including shipping. So it works out to be USD$33.50 per box. It may sound a bit steep, however all products included are full sized products. Furthermore, shipping was via DHL express and took two business days (picked up from Memebox on Wednesday, delivered Friday). When they say express, they weren't kidding. I just wish Auspost would learn a little from companies such as DHL. Now onto the products received!

1. Holika Holika Aqua Petit Jelly Starter - 40ml (RRP: $16)
"Formulated with glacier water, mint, and fine aqua pink pearls, this jelly-textured starter is the perfect 1 step primer for your base makeup. It instantly delivers hydration and brings back a natural glow to otherwise dry, dull complexion. Its jelly like texture also works to double makeup adherence for a lasting finish.
How to use: Take out the formula using the spatula and softly pat it over face with the included puff."

I've just used this product this morning underneath my foundation. I scooped some product up and wiped it on the back of my hands before smearing it all over my face with my fingers. I didn't bother with the puff. I was actually quite surprised at the colour of this primer. On the hand it has a metallic pink sheen. However, it is not too visible on the face. The jelly texture makes it a breeze to spread on the skin. I didn't really see much difference "natural glow" wise.

2. Holika Holika Aloe 99% Soothing Gel - 250ml (RRP: $7)
"Over 99% of the soothing gel consists of organic aloe vera leaf water from the island of Jeju, Korea. Non-sticky yet highly moisturizing, it soothers, cools, hydrates and rejuvenates skin with a gentle formula free of paraben, benzophenon, mineral oil, BHT, artificial coloring, etc.
How to use: It can be used as a hair essence, hair treatment pack, facial cream, soothing pack, eye patch, aftershave gel, body soothing gel, hand and foot essence."

I applied a small amount on my legs on Saturday when it was boiling hot. It instantly cooled my skin down and it made me want to soak in this gel! I love that it's non-sticky too. It also smells amazing, which is an added bonus!

3. Holika Holika Soda Pore Cleansing BB Oil - 150ml (RRP: $17)
"Holika Holika Soda Pore Cleansing BB Deep Cleansing Oil is a low stimulating cleansing oil that clears blackheads and whiteheads for a clearer complexion. Formulated with olive oil, argan oil, and Harrogate water, this unique soda pore cleansing oil increases skin elasticity, regenerates new skin cells, heals tissue (scars), and acts as an anti-inflammatory agent to soothe irritated skin.
How to use: Lather well with water and gently massage over skin. Rinse off with lukewarm water."

I am inundated with cleansers at the moment, so I'm not quite sure when I will get the chance to use this. It sounds like an interesting product though. Although I hope this doesn't make my oily skin feel even oilier.

4. Holika Holika Jewel-light Waterproof Eyeliner in 06 Olive Perridot - 2.2g (RRP: $6)
"Create captivating eyes with Holika Holika's Jewel-light waterproof eyeliner. Long-lasting, waterproof, and ultra-smooth, this pencil eyeliner makes lining your eyes like a pro easy. For a smoky, dramatic look, it can also double as a softly spreadable eye shadow.
How to use: Apply directly to lids and allow to dry for a few seconds without blinking. For a shadow effect, smudge with a finger or a brush to blend it in."

I am impressed with this eyeliner. I don't have many brown eyeliners, but have always wanted to expand my collection. Therefore, I'm welcoming this eyeliner with open arms. I swatched this on my arm and took some photos. I fart arsed around for about 15 minutes before deciding that I should get my butt into gear and swatch more products. I was thoroughly impressed at how hard it was to remove it with a baby wipe. I ended up having to use proper eye makeup remover to remove the swatch, as I didn't particularly felt like rubbing the skin off my arm that day. The only con about this product is that it's hard to create a thin line because the end is quite chunky.

5. Holika Holika Sweet Cotton Pore Cover Powder - 6.5g (RRP: $9)
"Infused with a blend of lotus water, noni flower water, sugar complex, and cotton extracts, this powder covers up uneven skin texture and locks in makeup in place with a silky, cotton-soft finish.
How to use: Use the included powder puff to gently pat over face at the end of makeup application."

Similar to the cleansing oil, I have a heap of finishing powders to use. I'm actually thinking about selling some, as I don't think it's physically possible to finish it all.

6. Holika Holika Jewel-light Shimmer Eyes in SBR07 Milk Tea - 2g (RRP: $5)
"Moist and silky soft when applied on lids, the Jewel-light Shimmer Eyes boosts its creamy, highly adherent texture and its long-lasting yet highly pigmented color radiance. Add jewel-like shimmers to your eyes for extra sophistication.
How to use: Apply over lids using a shadow brush or a fingertip. Layer with different shadow palette for a naturally blended eye makeup."

This powder eyeshadow has the softest/silkiest texture ever and is pigmented. I applied it on my lids to test out the colour and it looks really good on its own. Perfect for lazy days!

7. Holika Holika Heartfull Moisture Lipstick in RE808 Kissing Red - 3.8g (RRP: $9)
"Holika Holika's Heartfull Moisture Lipstick is a lovely heart-shaped moisturizing lipstick with highly pigmented color. It melts on the lips, making each application smooth and easy. With its vivid color and glossy effect, plus its crazy cute container, you'll be sure to become a Holika Holika-holic.
How to use: Apply directly to lips."

This lipstick is so friggin cute! It's in the shape of a love heart and I wish I received a different shade, as I would never wear red. I'm thinking about selling this, and a result decided not to swatch it.

8. Holika Holika Neon Beam Nails in 03 Orange Mood - 10ml (RRP: $4)
"Electrify your nails with these unique glow-in-the-dark Neon Beam Nails! It's colorful and pretty under the daylight, but when under UV lights, it'll catch everyone's attention with its neon vibrancy.
How to use: Paint a base coat over clean nails first. Then coat over a 2nd layer with Neon Beam Nails and finish with a final top coat."

Another product that I wish I received a different shade. I don't know about orange nails, but I think I would feel more comfortable with orange nails than red lips. I'm far too chicken to have "loud" lips.

L-R: Jewel-light waterproof liner; Jewel-light shimmer eyes
I quite like this Memebox, as there was a good mix of skincare and makeup products. If I received different nail polish and lipstick shades, this would definitely be the best memebox I've purchased.

If you would like to purchase a Memebox, feel free to use my coupon M4AHA7, which will give you a $5 discount off orders of $30 or more.

Have you jumped on the memebox bandwagon yet? If so, which boxes have you purchased?
