Er.Meh.Gherd! 24 sleeps to Christmas, and I have not even done half my Christmas shopping, which is terrible since I like getting stuff over the internet rather than visiting a brick and mortar store and getting trampled by crazy Christmas shoppers.
Anyway, I have been diligently putting all my empties in a box for my Empties post at the end (or beginning) of every month. I seem to have finished a crap load of skincare and haircare products in November.
Starting off with masks, a reader who has become a friend generously sent me a heap of samples and masks. The Neutrogena Hydro Boost mask was one of them. I normally have problems with face masks not fitting my face properly with misaligned cut outs for nose/mouth/eyes, however, I was pleasantly surprised that the cut outs were where they were meant to be on my face! Hurray! The mask itself was very moist and comfortable on the skin. I was also worried that since it's a no-rinse mask, that it would leave a yucky residue. It was fairly unpleasant for about 5 minutes after removing this mask, but as the essence slowly sank into my skin, I didn't feel the urge to wash it off. I can't really comment on its hydration properties, as it's the first one I've used and I haven't noticed any difference in my skin.
Montagne Jeunesse Raspberry & Mango Fruit Smoothie mask was a delight to use! It smells AMAZING. I did use it when pimples starting popping up on my face, however, I don't think it did anything for them. My skin did feel luxuriously soft after though.
I received the Split End Therapy mask in a Memebox a few months ago (read here). Wouldn't be purchasing this again, as it did nothing for my hair. In fact, it somehow made it feel worse. I wouldn't describe it as drying out my hair, but I did notice more tangles.
Tosowoong 10 Hours was another memebox product (read here). It's a leave-in hair treatment that I really enjoyed using. It smelt nice and helped inject some moisture into my dry bleached locks without weighing my hair down. Only a small amount was needed each time, so the syringe lasted a few weeks.
Tarte Lights, Camera, Lashes is a pretty old mascara that definitely needs throwing out. It was a great volumising mascara that I would consider repurchasing again.
As mentioned in my last Empties post, I am not a fan of these Simple facial wipes anymore. I remember liking these when I first tried them. They must have changed their formula or did something, as it doesn't feel as moist on the skin and hence, as efficient as removing makeup easily. This is my last packet of Simple facial wipes, and I won't be repuchasing this again.
I clearly use a heap of shampoo and conditioner. Bearing in mind I only wash my hair every other day. The Clear Scalp & Hair Beauty Therapy Total Nourishing Care Shampoo is an old bottle that I've been meaning to finish up and I finally did! It is an OK shampoo. It smells good, and doesn't irritate my scalp. Would consider repurchasing this, but it's not high on my to-buy shampoo list.
I used to absolutely LOVE the Tigi Bed Head Dumb Blonde conditioner. This is also an old bottle. Whilst I love the tropical fruity smell of this conditioner, I'm not a big fan at how the silver print flakes off all over the place! I'm not sure if it's because it's an old bottle, but it was so annoying. My hair also didn't feel as smooth and moisturised as I remember. Either the formula has gone off slightly or my hair is more damaged than before and needs an extra oomph.
I reviewed the Matrix Oil Wonders Oil Conditioner a few weeks ago (read here), so I won't go into much detail here as I haven't changed my mind about this conditioner. Wouldn't repurchase.
Elizavecca Collagen Ceramide Coating Protein Treatment is another Memebox product (read here). It's a bit of a miss for me, considering the length of time you're meant to sit this product in your hair for (20 minutes). I only had the patience to wait about 5 minutes before I washed this product out. It didn't do anything drastic to my hair that made me want to jump for joy.
Soap & Glory Pulp Friction Foamy Fruity Body Scrub is my holy grail body scrub. It is quite gritty (which I love), and it smells so good! It's also reasonably priced too! Have already repurchased!
For some reason, I managed to finish two bottles of body wash. I decided to finish up my non-Bath & Body Works (B&BW) shower gels or else they will be sitting in my cupboard forever. The Dove Body Wash in Coconut Milk with Jasmine scent is a good body wash, but it definitely can't compare to my beloved B&BW shower gels, especially the Tokyo Lotus & Apple Blossom one that I've just finished last month. It smells sooo good, and I find it more moisturizing than the Dove body washes.
Femfresh Daily Intimate wash because your lady parts need a good wash too.
I did not think much of the Dermalogica Clear Start Oil Clearing Matte Moisturizer. It certainly did nothing to control oil production. It's also not the best for dehydrated skin, as I did still get flakey skin peeking through my foundation on certain parts of my face after the use of a Retin-A cream. I had to mix a bit of facial oil (argan oil) in to combat this problem. As such, I wouldn't repurchase.
Similarly, the Curel Sebum Care Faoming Wash, Moisture Gel and Lotion did not make me want to jump for joy or write a review, as I didn't find anything worth writing about. It's meant to help control oil production, and I didn't notice any difference. Wouldn't repurchase these products either.
