Memebox - Etude House

Memebox is a beauty subscription box service with a twist. Instead of a recurring subscription, you actually pay per box, and each box has a theme. In this case, the theme is "Etude House" - i.e. all items included in this box is from the brand Etude House. Unfortunately, it has been a while since new boxes has been released. It seems like Memebox is concentrating on selling individual products rather than a "mystery" box. Whilst I'm sad that memebox hasn't released any new boxes, my wallet is currently jumping for joy.

Etude House is one of my favourite Korean brands. I really like their makeup products, and their nail polish remover is definitely holy grail stuff. I was looking forward to seeing a heap of makeup in this box, and was a bit disappointed with what was included. As this is a Superbox, all products included are full-sized, which is a plus considering this box set me back USD$30.99 including shipping (with a $5 coupon).

1. Brow Mascara in 02 Light Brown - 4.5g (RRP: $7.00)
"A mascara for your brows! Non-smudging, long-lasting and containing allantoin, beeswax, and carnauba wax components rich in nutrition, this Brow Mascara from Etude House offers a naturally defined and youthful-looking arches with just a quick smudge!
How to use: Swipe through with the brow mascara towards the opposite direction the brow hair grows and brush along the tail of your brows for a nice shape."

I'm not sure about the colour of this brow mascara. Although I do have blonde hair now and this would probably suit me now than when I had my natural dark brown/black hair. However, looking at swatches online, it looks like it leans orange brown, and I'm just really hesitant in trying this. Might try to sell it.

2. Oh My Lash Mascara 01 Top Coat - 8.5g (RRP: $5.00)
"Ever heard of a top coat for your lashes? Create translucent and glossy lashes by applying it alone, or give it a non-smudging and long-lasting finish to your regular eye makeup by applying it over mascara.
How to use: Apply after a regular mascara. Do not be alarmed if the brush and the formula gradually blackens since it's the black ink from the mascara."

I'm on the fence about this product too. Whilst it is an interesting product, it just doesn't seem like a product I'd reach for, as I'm a creature of habit and tend to only use black mascaras. But I may just eat my words if this turns out amazing and something I can't live without.

3. Moistfull Collagen Cream - 60ml (RRP: $18.00)
"Specially formulated with marine collagen and mucilage from baobab trees, the famous Moistfull Collagen Cream is a gentle, deeply moisturizing, and skin firming facial cream. It's fast-absorbing and lightweight in texture as well, making it a suitable moisturizer for both the summer and winter times.
How to use: Apply directly to face and pat it in for full absorbance."

I've read a few reviews on this Collagen Cream and most of them do not recommend this cream for oily skin, which is what I have. I will probably give this away.

4. Face Conditioning Fixer - 80ml (RRP: $12.00)
"A makeup boosting fixer for cooling, refreshing and moisturizing the skin while locking in makeup in place for a long-lasting, silky finish. It also helps soothe and relieve reddened or irritated skin with its aloe vera infused formula.
How to use: Spray the fixer evenly over face before, in between, or after makeup application."

This is another product that I probably wouldn't use. I have makeup setting sprays (i.e. Urban Decay) that I rarely use, mainly because I forget to despite sitting the bottle right in front of me on my desk. I also don't normally have a problem with makeup not staying in place, so never felt the need to use makeup setting sprays.

5. Belle Dress Pretty Look Shower Cologne - 100ml (RRP: $8.00)
"Get ready in the morning with a spritz of Belle Dress cologne which comes in a fruity perfume complex - a blend of fruity sweetness, jasmine floral, refreshing green note, and warm musk scents. Its blend of hyaluronic acid, natural spring water, and the lovely perfume fragrance will give a refreshingly moist and sweetly scented start to your day.
How to use: After a shower, towel dry and spray the cologne all over the body, gently patting it on for absorbance."
This cologne smells quite nice, and I would like to say I may use this, but I probably won't. I have quite a number of perfumes sitting in my cupboard that I haven't touched in ages, as I am currently addicted to Roses de Chloe, which I have been using non-stop (with the exception of the times I've been trialling a perfume for review purposes) for the past year!

6. Play Therapy Sleeping Pack - 150ml (RRP: $10.00)
"Etude's special formula 'Nutrition Compact' - a blend of pomegranate, mango seed butter, and evening primrose - combined together with rich collagen complex work to deeply nourish and tighten up dry, sagging skin overnight, for a mochi-firm and radiant complexion the next morning.
How to use: Spread the pack evenly over face at the end of skincare, gently massaging it into the skin for better absorbance. Rinse off with lukewarm water the next morning."

This sounds like a mask type thing, and I'm really hoping that it absorbs in the skin and doesn't transfer onto my pillowcase if I were to take the risk and leave it on overnight. Despite not having dry, sagging skin, I might just give this one a go, as I feel like this box has been a waste of money if I don't at least try something!

I feel like I've been so negative writing this review. However, I truly wouldn't normally use any of these products received in this box. I guess that is the risk you take when you purchase a beauty box such as this.

  1. Their packaging is always so pretty. I haven't tried much from them so there's a whole lot of goodies I'd be willing to trial, the brow mascara does look like a peculiar shade just by looking at the packaging... bummer there's not a lot you'll get use of, that's definitely the risk with beauty boxes :)

  3. I ordered my first 3 boxes over a month ago and the first one has just shipped. Very excited to see what's in them, I'm glad I ordered them when I did, because ever since that day, there have not really been any new interesting boxes.

  5. It's a shame you got that brow mascara in such a light colour, as that is currently my go to in dark brown!
