The Parcel - Summer Edit 2014

This is the second box of The Parcel by Marie Claire. It is the Summer Edit, and it is jam packed full of goodies! I was very impressed with how quickly AusPost and The Parcel have sent out this box. It was dispatched yesterday and delivered today. Amazing (never thought I'd use this word when describing AusPost's service)! Upon first glance, I was also extremely impressed with what was included in this season's box.

John Frieda Luxurious Volume Touchably Full Shampoo (44ml; RRP: $15.99 for 250ml), Conditioner (44ml; RRP: $15.99 for 250ml), Fine to Full Blow-Out Spray (29ml; RRP: $16.99 for 118ml)
"Party season calls for beautiful bouncy hair, so get set for your next big night out with this volumising range. Wash with the shampoo and conditioner, then mist the spray to your roots. Then comb through before blow-drying for va-va-voom volume with a naturally soft feel."

I have tried a few John Frieda hair products. My favourite has got to be their foam hair dye. However for some strange reason I don't normally purchase John Frieda products. As such, I'm happy to receive them in my beauty boxes. I would definitely use both shampoo and conditioner. Not sure about the blow-out spray, as I try not to blow dry my hair especially after I've bleached it to death.

Estee Lauder Advanced Night Repair Eye - 5ml (RRP: $95 for 15ml)
"Zone in on fine lines, wrinkles, puffiness, dark circles, dryness and uneven skin tone around the eyes with this powerful gel serum. Suitable for all skin types, Australia's number one eye treatment works to visibly repair, hydrate, brighten and protect this delicate area - and all while you rest."

I have tried the Advanced Night Repair Synchronized Recovery Complex II for the face, and I quite liked it. I did a repurchase, but have not used it in a while. I'm hoping I'd hate this eye serum, and it is super expensive (like the one for the face).

Essie No Chips Ahead Top Coat (13.5ml - full size; RRP: $17.95) & Peach Daiquiri Nail Lacquer (13.5ml - full size; RRP: $16.95)
"From pretty pinks to classic red, you will have received one of Essie's top-selling nail polishes. Apply two coats of the feminine shade and then finish with a slick of top coat (available in All In One, No Chips Ahead or Good To Go) for a high shine, longer lasting mani."

It's no secret that I have a rather unhealthy obsession with nail lacquers. Essie is one of my favourite nail polish brands, and I welcome these two polishes into my nail polish collection with open arms.

Jergens Ultra Healing Body Moisturizer - 100ml (RRP: $6.99 for 250ml)
"For more than a century, Jergens beauty products have been a staple in the bathroom cabinets of American women and now this body-loving range is finally available on our shores. As a The Parcel exclusive, you're one of the first to try its coveted body moisturiser."

This is actually my third Jergens product. I purchased a moisturizer whilst in the states and thought it was OK. I was given the BB body cream, but I think I'm allergic to it as it does have DHA (I'm assuming I'm allergic to this ingredient, as it is prominent in self tanners, and I'm allergic to those too). However, I'm quite interested to put this body moisturizer to the test. It's also nice that it's not too expensive either!

Revlon Age Defying CC Cream in Medium - full size (RRP: $26.95 for 30ml)
"Short on time and after a barely-there make-up base? Then this multi-tasking colour correcting cream might just be what you're after. It works to address the first signs of ageing (think: hyper-pigmentation, fine lines, dehydration and uneven tone) while offering buildable coverage with a broad spectrum SPF30."
I'm hoping this shade isn't too dark for me. Although ageing isn't one of my skin concerns, I'm interested to see how my oily skin reacts to this CC cream.
Elizabeth Arden Eight Hour Cream Skin Protectant (RRP: $25 for 50ml)
"This iconic do-it-all balm helps to soothe, soften and protect dry or mildly irritated skin. For a dewy glow, try mixing it with your foundation, or dab across the tops of your cheeks for an instant radiance boost throughout the day."

I'm a bit unsure about this product. As mentioned earlier, I do have oily skin and am not a fan of the dewy look on me.

Philosophy Purity Made Simple 3-in-1 Cleanser for Face & Eyes - 30ml (RRP: $15 for 90ml)
"Remove make-up, dissolve dirt, tone and lightly hydrate your complexion in one simple step. At the end of the day, massage the award-winning pH-balanced cleanser into a lightly damp face (even around the eye area), rinse off, and pat dry."
I've been meaning to try this cleanser. I think I have another deluxe sample size of this cleanser somewhere, but have yet to try it. This is definitely a case of beauty-blogger-fail. :(
That's it for the Summer Edit of The Parcel. Overall, I'm impressed with the contents of this beauty subscription box. The worst thing about The Parcel is that I now have to wait a whole three months to get the next box! Retailing at $25 per month ($29.95 for a one-off subscription or $90 for an annual subscription), I think it's so worth it based on this season's box!

  1. Argh, I not cannot wait for mine to arrive! I can't believe how much stuff they packed into this one! I've never tried any of those products. Waiting for a quarterly box like this is well worth it to me x

  2. I don't really use John Frieda products either but the ones you have received look quite good!

  3. Oh, I didn't know this box exist in Australia till now, and now my wallet is going to shrink.
Thank you for the post, googling the box RIGHT NOW.

  4. The Parcel really does sound like an awesome sub box! I think the seasonal shipment is good, I think I would accumulate way too many deluxe sized things if I subscribed to a monthly one! The inclusion of two full sized essie polishes is amazing!
