Review: Vanessa Megan Petitgrain Cream Cleanser

If you're not a big fan of makeup removing wipes, I may have found a great alternative for you!
Vanessa Megan's Petitgrain Cream Cleanser is a lightweight, hydrating, water-soluble cream cleanser that can be used every day to wash away dirt and makeup. Vanessa Megan also claims that this cream cleanser helps to balance your skin's pH, and is perfect for all skin types.

It contains 100% natural (87% certified organic) ingredients. There are five key ingredients that make this product work -
1. Petitgrain Essential Oil - has a tonic effect on the skin to help clear up skin blemishes.
2. Lemongrass Essential Oil - helps minimize pore size by tightening the elastin fibers in the epidermis.
3. Coconut Oil - moisturizes, helps strengthens underlying tissue and removes excessive dead cells on the skin's surface.
4. Shea Butter - has healing benefits to fade acne and other scars, heal sunburned, cracked and peeling skin, and may assist in soothing skin allergies and conditions such as psoriasis and dermatitis.
5. Vitamin E - a powerful antioxidant, promotes collagen production (anti-aging).

To use, put 1-2 pumps into the palm of your hand (one pump in the picture above), massage onto dry skin, rinse with tepid water and pat dry.

I found this cleanser extremely easy to use. Whilst it's not entirely travel friendly with the pump, it's user-friendly, as it dispenses adequate amount of product per use. I also love that you can see the amount of product that you have left.

Unfortunately, I wasn't keen on the smell of this cleanser. It has a strong lemongrass scent, one which I'm not a fan of. However, it's not a deal breaker as the scent does not linger after you've washed the cream cleanser off.

If you wear a heap of waterproof mascara/eyeliner, this product may not be adequate in removing all your makeup. Whilst Vanessa Megan claims that this does not sting your eyes, I beg to differ. I gave it two goes before deciding that I will no longer attempt to remove my eye makeup with this cleanser. I guess my waterproof mascara and eyeliner are way too amazing. However, this Petitgrain Cream Cleanser removed the rest of my makeup effortlessly. I used a makeup removing wipe after patting my face dry and was pleased to learn that I didn't have any foundation/blush residue on my face.

Furthermore, my skin felt supple and soft after using this cleanser. I did not get any tight feeling, which is commonly associated or results from the natural oils on your skin being stripped.
I really wish that this cream cleanser did a better job at removing my eye makeup, as it would be a fantastic alternative for removing my makeup. If you do not use waterproof eye makeup, I would definitely recommend this cream cleanser!

Vanessa Megan Petitgrain Cream Cleanser retails for $54.95 (200ml) and can be purchased here.

  1. I've been looking for a cleanser for a while...however I do use waterproof makeup so this one might not be for me. Thanks so much for the honest review though! It's really helpful to hear both the pros and cons of a product :)

  2. That's an incredibly expensive cleanser if it doesn't remove eye makeup, as well! Thanks for the review :]
