Haul: Mecca Cosmetica & Lush

As mentioned in my Sephora haul post (read here), I did a tiny haul at Mecca Cosmetica and Lush whilst I was with the girls in the city a couple of weeks ago. Yes, I'm FINALLY getting my tush into gear and writing about this. Also, I wasn't kidding when I said tiny haul. I have been quite broke after  spending bucket loads of money on makeup and clothes I don't need over the past few months, and the husband was giving THE look after realizing how far behind I was at repaying for my purchases. So I didn't have much to spend and just picked up the bare essentials.

I mainly wanted the Kate Somerville Blemish Banish Kit from Mecca Cosmetica, as I've been getting a heap of pimples (which I think are mainly hormonal) plus leftover scars and pimples from the Foreo Luna Mini (read review here). I purchased it for $62 (retails for USD$55 at Sephora), and it comes with Detox Daily Cleanser (50ml), ExfoliKate Acne Clearing Exfoliating Treatment (15ml), EradiKate Acne Treatment (30ml), and Oil Free Moisturizer (15ml). I also got a sample of Kate Somerville Clearing Mask. I love how generous Mecca Cosmetica are with their samples. I have been using the Clearing Mask, and it's amazing at helping to dry out those pesky pimples that are disgustingly deep in the skin. I think I might have to go out and buy the full size when I finish my sample!

I really have to pat myself on the back for walking out of Mecca Cosmetica with only what I went in there for! I can't believe I didn't walk out with any makeup because their pricing is so comparable to the states!

I went into Lush specifically to exchange five empty Lush pots for a mask. I chose the Cupcake one hoping that it will help with my oily/acne-prone skin. I've used it about three times since my purchase, and I haven't really noticed much in terms of calming breakouts or any reduction in oiliness. I have about 3 days left before it's best before date and probably about another 2-3 more uses. It's such a shame that this mask only lasts about 3 weeks before it expires.

I also wanted to get the Marilyn Hair Moisturizer. I came away with a sample instead because they sold out of it. I have yet to try this but I'm excited to!

I also wanted to purchase a tin case for my bar soaps but I forgot. :(

And that wraps up my extremely tiny haul from Mecca Cosmetica and Lush (I told you I wasn't kidding). I should celebrate my willpower to say no to shopping... by shopping online!

Have you tried any of these products I've purchased? Have you got any recommendations for horrible hormonal/oily skin?

  1. The Kate Somerville kit looks great, not too expensive either! I very much look forward to hearing your full thoughts on it :)

  2. I'll be interested in hearing more about the Kate Somerville products! Yeah I don't like Lush face masks much, as I never get round to finishing them!

  3. I've been tempted by some products at Mecca recently, and been restrained, which is just weird! Good job not getting more than what you went in for!
