Empties: April 2015

Another month has gone, and I've got another lot of empties to share. I've got a good mix of skincare, bodycare and haircare products this time around, with only one lone makeup product.

In no particular order, these are my April empties...

Herbal Essence Classic Replenishing Conditioner
Herbal Essence Classic will always remain... well, a classic to me. Although I have to admit that it is not the most moisturizing conditioner I've tried, it has to be one of the nicest smelling conditioner ever. I used to use it when I was younger, so it's quite nostalgic. I probably would repurchase this conditioner again.

Philosophy Total Matteness
I don't know how I feel about this Philosphy face cleanser. Whilst I love that it can also be used as a mask (apply on dry skin and leave on for about 10 minutes), I didn't notice any changes in terms of oiliness. I used this with my clarisonic, and since it's a clay cleanser/mask (kaolin), it is harder to clean my clarisonic brush compared to other cleansers. I think this is an okay cleanser, but it's not one that I must have, as such I probably won't be repurchasing... at least not for now anyway.

Amele Essential Intimate Wash
It took me a while to realise why I wasn't a fan of this feminine wash. It's a lot more runny than other washes I've tried, and I prefer a thicker consistency. It's definitely not a deal breaker in that if someone were to gift this to me, I would use it because it does the job. However, I wouldn't repurchase, as there are better feminine washes on the market.

Chanel Vitalumiere Aqua
This foundation featured in my "Top Three Foundation" post I did last year (read here), and it still stands as one of my favourite foundations ever. I won't iterate all the amazingness that is this foundation again, as my thoughts about this foundation are still the same as when I wrote about it last year. I have repurchased this, and can see myself repurchasing this again and again. Would definitely recommend this foundation, especially if you have oily skin like me.

Alpha H Daily Essential Moisturizer
I can't say I love this moisturizer, but I don't hate it either. Yes, it's one of those products. Whilst it's a good moisturizer that sinks into your skin relatively quickly despite it's thick consistency, I find that it doesn't provide enough hydration for my skin, especially if I have used a Retin-A cream the night before. As such, I would not be repurchasing this.

Clarins UV Plus Day Screen High Protection SPF40
I do have a bit of product left, but it is getting a bit too old for my comfort. This is a fantastic sunscreen for the face, as it gets absorbed really quickly, is not thick and heavy like some sunscreens can feel on the skin, and doesn't leave any whitecast (at least any that I've noticed). I would probably repurchase this sunscreen.

Maybelline Express Eye & Lip Makeup Remover
I don't finish a bottle of makeup remover very often, simply because I rely quite heavily on wipes and face cleansers to remove everything. However, sometimes they don't completely remove my mascara and eyeliner, and this is where an eye makeup remover comes in handy. I really enjoyed using this one, as it removed my most stubborn waterproof and smudgeproof mascaras and eyeliners easily. I got this as a freebie in a promotion when I went on a shopping spree in Singapore, but I would totally "repurchase" this.

Lush Breath of Fresh Air Toner Water
This is meant to refresh and soothe your skin. Unfortunately, I didn't really notice a difference. My skin was still as oily as before, and I've had the same amount (if not more) pimples. I also wish that it sprayed a finer mist over a larger area. I probably wouldn't repurchase as it didn't quite worked for me.

La Roche-Posay Effaclar Duo
This is one of those products which you don't appreciate until it's gone and you haven't got a back up and can't get to the shops. I initially thought this product was a "meh" product, but I really do miss having this in my skincare routine. This is excellent for aiding in the repair of the skin (i.e. after a break out). I found that my blemishes disappear quicker, and I didn't get as many of them whilst I was using this cream. I definitely need to get my act together and get another tube or two of this!

Fuss Free Naturals Cleanse + Exfoliate Natural Face Cleansing Wipes
Loved these wipes! I didn't think I would, but these are amazing. They're so soft and gentle on the skin, smell amazing, and removed my makeup easily. They also don't break the bank, which is always appreciated. Furthermore, they don't leave any yucky residue on my skin. Would definitely be repurchasing this!

Gatsby Powdered Oil Clear Paper
These oil blotter papers make an appearance on my empties post practically every month. They are still my HG oil blotters, and would recommend this to everyone! I would repurchase now if I didn't already have like 10 spares.

La Roche-Posay Redermic [R]
This is a great alternative to Retin-A. It is not as harsh as Retin-A, and is fantastic at evening skintone. It is also meant to be great at reducing wrinkles, but I can't tell you if it works because I haven't really got any.

Seche Vite Top Coat
Although Seche Vite may be harmful, but it's just too good! The shine and fast dry formula is amazing. I would continue using this till I get pregnant and re-evaluate my lifestyle choices. As they say, YOLO (you only live once)! Ain't nobody got time to wait for nail polish to dry. Too much shopping to do, too little time.

Sugar Queen Body Scrubs - Lemon Cheesecake
I recently review this body scrub (read here), so I won't go into detail. It's a good body scrub if you're in the market for one.

That's it for my April empties! What have you emptied recently?

  1. I love that you included a feminine wash.
I bet so many people are too shy about sharing what they use hahaa.
The feminine wash I currently use is just an absolutely giant tub of Sorbelene Wash! It's super cheap and is good for PH balance and all :) x
