Spring has sprung, and we're 3 quarters into 2015 already! It seems time has passed me by... again!
I've managed to accumulate quite a number of empties for the month of August, most of which are haircare and skincare products, but I'm rather pleased with myself nonetheless. I NEED to finish more makeup products and stop hauling.
Batiste Dry Shampoo Diva
I don't use dry shampoos all that much even though I try to wash my hair every 3-4 days, so it took me forever to use up this bottle of dry shampoo. I quite enjoy the Batiste brand of dry shampoo, as they seem to do the trick - i.e. absorb oil and freshen up your tresses. I have repurchased another Batiste dry shampoo during Priceline's 40% haircare sale a few weeks ago, but I went for a different scent this time - I got the cool & crisp fresh scent, I prefer that one much more than Diva.
Hair & Me Hair Rejuvenation Treatment
I did a review of this treatment a few weeks ago (read here), but in a nutshell, this is a great pre-shampoo treatment that contains extra virgin coconut oil, jojoba oil, macadamia virgin oil and sweet almond oil to help repair, moisturise and strengthen your hair. With my bleached blonde locks, I need all the moisturizing treatment I can get! I do have about 3 more packets of these treatments, so I probably won't be repurchasing for a while.
Pureology Colour Fanatic 21 Essential Benefits
This is a mini/travel sized bottle. It smells amazing and the formula itself is quite heavy and can weigh your hair down if you use too much. Unfortunately, I didn't really see any results - it's meant to smooth and strengthen your hair, whilst preserving the colour. Some people have reported that it helped detangle their hair - I didn't experience such phenomena. Maybe my hair is just too damaged to be saved. :(
Gascoigne & King Love Vanilla Candle
This candle made my room smell so warm and yummy. It reminded me of Glasshouse Tahaa, which I absolutely adore. Similar to Glasshouse, this candle has a strong scent, which makes me feel like I'm getting more bang for my buck (I hate candles that don't have much of a scent to them). I have to say I'm extremely tempted to repurchase!
Scholl Fresh Step Anti-Perspirant
This is a definite must have if you wear flats or heels (or any type of shoe) without a sock, and end up having sweaty, smelly feet. It has quite a masculine scent, but I reckon it beats smelly feet scent. This is one foot product I cannot go without. I have already repurchased!
Femfresh Daily Intimate Wash
This has featured in a number of my empties post. Femfresh is a fantastic intimate wash brand that I would recommend to all ladies. A reminder that your lady bits do need a pH balanced wash every so often!
Bioderma Crealine H20
I know this is so raved about in the beauty community, so I kind of feel like an odd ball when I say that I don't feel the same way. Maybe it's because I have a tiny bottle, and I mainly use it to remove waterproof mascara - which by the way, it's not very good at. If you're a long time follower, you might know that I normally use a makeup remover wipe first, and then follow up with an eye makeup remover on a cotton pad to remove any remaining stubborn eyeliner/mascara. Therefore, I rarely use a cleansing water, such as the Bioderma one, and perhaps this is the reason why I'm not crazy for it like others are.
Swisspers Spa Facial Cleansing Wipes with pomegranate extract
I didn't expect to like these wipes as much as I did. These wipes do an absolute nifty job at removing makeup without leaving yucky residue behind, which is all I expect from a makeup remover wipe. I also love that the wipes are not a boring white, but instead a peachy-red colour (similar to the packaging). It also smells lovely, which is a plus. I would consider repurchasing this.
Laura Mercier Flawless Skin Dual-Action Eye Makeup Remover
This eye makeup remover by Laura Mercier was powerful enough to remove my most stubborn eyeliner and mascara without irritation or greasy/oily residue. It is apparently an oil-free formula, but you still need to shake it up before use, as there are two distinct layers if left standing for a while. I would consider repurchasing.
Maybelline the Rocket Volum' Express Waterproof mascara
It seems like Maybelline makes the best drugstore mascara, and the Rocket Volum' Express mascara did not disappoint. It provides ample volume, as per its name, without clumping. I think this is a fantastic voluminizing mascara and would consider repurchasing.
Eyeko Skinny Mini Brush mascara
I didn't like this mascara. It did nothing for my lashes, and it has been sitting in my drawer for months! I hate the brush too. I thought it'd be best to just throw it out to make room for mascaras that work.
Lancome Hypnose Doll Eyes mascara
Love love love this mascara. I especially love this mascara for my lower lashes (which are extremely sparse and short). I am able to coat each lash without getting mascara all over my eye, which is in itself a bloody miracle. I am so sad to throw this out, but I have to as it is getting a bit too old now.
First Aid Beauty Skin Rescue Deep Cleanser with Red Clay
This cleanser is meant to remove excess oils, unclogs pores, purify the skin, and control oil production. I am a bit on the fence with this cleanser. I finished this cleanser about 2 weeks ago now, and haven't really noticed any difference in my skin (as one would assume that my face would be more oily now that I've stopped using it). I do like how my skin doesn't feel tight after using this cleanser, which is a good indicator that it's not stripping my skin of its natural oil, thus my oil glands aren't working on overdrive trying to replace these oils, making my skin oiler. As such, I'm not sure if I would repurchase, as there are better cleansers on the market.
Origins Make a Difference Plus + Rejuvenating Treatment
This moisturizer was featured in a short series called My Dry Skin Saviours that I did back in June (read here). I absolutely LOVE this moisturizer, as it's perfect for my oily, dehydrated skin. The only con is the jar packaging, which is a little unhygienic and I hate having product underneath my nails (to combat this, I used my knuckle to get product out). I'm willing to overlook this con, as this moisturizer is amazing. I will be repurchasing!
Boscia Clear Complexion Cleanser
Another cleanser that I'm on the fence with. I am coming to the conclusion that I'm hard to impress when it comes to cleansers. I think I prefer the First Aid Beauty one if I had to pick, only because my skin felt a bit tight after use. I do like the pump dispenser of the Boscia cleanser, as it's so much easier to use than the First Aid Beauty one (although it is a travel sized one - the full sized version looks like a flip top cap with a squeezey tube). I wouldn't repurchase solely because it made my skin feel tight, and I can't imagine what this cleanser would do to those with dry skin.
That's it for August empties! What have you emptied recently?
