The Parcel - Winter 2016

I received my last subscription of The Parcel last weekend (had a yearly subscription), and was so disappointed with the box, I was not motivated to blog about it. In my opinion, I thought the box contained a lot of products that were not at all "luxurious".

Whilst the box was filled to the brim with products, the majority are what I would consider as drugstore and readily available at the supermarket or Priceline. Considering The Parcel is marketed as a "luxury" box containing deluxe samples and new releases, I am disappointed with the contents. So I apologise in advance if this post is written in a negative light, but I'll do my best to be as positive as possible.

1. Nivea Daily Essentials Sensitive Caring Micellar Water - full size (RRP: $9.97 for 200ml)
"A must for sensitised skin, this utilises magnet-like micelles to gently remove make-up and impurities. Your skin's natural moisture barrier is restored, and there's no rubbing required."

I don't think this is even a new release! I had a look at the nivea website (click here), and saw reviews from 224 days ago! Having said that, I do have eyelash extensions, and I now can only use water based makeup removers, so this will come in handy.

2. John Frieda Frizz Ease Forever Smooth Anti-Frizz Primer - full size ($16.99 for 90ml)
"Say bye-bye to frizz with this unique leave-in treatment. A blend of pure coconut oil and glycerides, it realigns the structure of each strand, boosting its immunity to frizz with every use."

Another product that isn't a new release (i.e. been around for more than a season or 3 months). Come to think of it, I don't think any of the products in this box are new releases... However, this anti-frizz primer does sound quite good. Hopefully it works!

3. Garnier Miracle Wake Up Cream - full size ($19.99 for 50ml)
"If winter has left your skin looking a little dull, this will help transform your complexion thanks to the fatigue-fighting, skin-smoothing rice-micro peptides. Slather on, sleep, and wake up to more radiant skin."

On the box, it says "smoothes wrinkles, hydrates 24H". I feel like this should belong in The Parcel Marie Claire Ageless, rather than this one. I don't have anything positive to say about this, as this product does not address my skin concerns (i.e. it's not for me).

4. Colgate Optic White High Impact White Toothpaste - 21g (RRP: $9.99 for 85g)
"Want teeth up to four times whiter? This at-home formula has the same ingredient used by dentist in professional whitening treatments, so you can get a whiter, brighter smile after just six weeks."

Seriously, The Parcel?! Toothpaste?! I don't know how this is a luxury product. But on a positive note, I could use more travel friendly toothpaste.

5. MOR Rosa Noir Hand & Body Milk - 50ml (RRP: $39.95 for 500ml)
"A combination of shea butter, macadamia oil, wild rose, hibiscus and fig comes together in this silky, lightweight lotion to deeply nourish skin and leave behind a soft, floral scent."

This is definitely NOT a new release. This was included in the Spring 2015/20th anniversary edition (read here), and I haven't even finished using the last one!

6. Klorane Shampoo with Quinine and B Vitamins - 25ml (RRP: $20.95 for 400ml)
"Designed especially for weakened hair, this cleanser strengthens the keratin, helps restore thickness, and maintains healthy hair growth to combat thinning, lifeless hair."

I'm trying really hard to be positive... so yay! A tiny bottle of shampoo! It has a musky smell, but not too terrible. I'm sure it'll come in handy the next time I travel or run out of shampoo.

7. Rituals Cosmetics Fortune Oil - 20ml (RRP: $18 for 200ml)
"Make your next shower an indulgent experience with this luxe bathing essential. Upon contact with water, the oil transforms into a rich, hydrating foam, and the sweet orange and cedar leaves skin delicately scented."

This is a brand that is new to me. It also sounds like an interesting product - a foaming oil. Can't say I'm all that crazy about the scent though. For some strange reason it reminds of me coke. :-/

8. The Body Shop Drops of Youth Concentrate - 7ml (RRP: $69.95 for 50ml)
"This certified organic potion boasts the latest in plant stem cell technology, and zero silicon or parabens, to encourage the skin's natural renewal process for healthier skin that glows."

I've been wanting to try The Body Shop drops of youth concentrate ever since it was released. I'm all for products that promote skin renewal, so I'm interested to see if this product works for my skin.

9. Burt's Bees Tinted Lip Balm - full size (RRP:$12.95 for 4.25g)
"Combining conditioning with colour, this 100 per cent natural formula boasts a blend of flower waxes, shea butter and vitamin E for nourishment, plus a subtle tint for a wash of colour. You'll want to stash one in every bag."

I don't normally wear lip balms, so I won't get any use out of this. :(

10. Garnier Miracle Skin Protector in Light - 1.5ml (RRP: $13.95 for 50ml)
"Combining moisturiser, corrector, light foundation and sunscreen into one, this four-in-one BB cream is a beauty shortcut for healthy, radiant skin. Your skin will be instantly flawless and glowing!"

This is a bonus product but it comes in a sachet. So I don't know whether I should be cheering (yay it's a bonus, nay it's in a dreaded sachet).

Overall, this edition of The Parcel is definitely a disappointment with tons of room for improvement. The majority (if not all) of the products are not new releases, although they are all either deluxe samples or full size (except the "bonus" item). If I were to base solely on this box alone, I would not renew my subscription. However, since The Parcel has released some exceptional boxes, I am considering renewing.

What are your thoughts?
